Jesper Christensen Will Not Return As Mr. White

Well according to MI6, actor Jesper Christensen was quoted recently as saying "all Bond films are s..t" and he would never reprise his role as Mr. White. Christensen really slagged both CR and QOS. It's too bad, he made a terrific villain. That being said, he appears to be another one of those "Master Thespians" who's above such tripe as a lowly James Bond film....or maybe he's just hissed off at EON for not offering him big 'bucks to reprise his role. Oh well, it would have been nice to have the continuity of having the same actors return film to film.

If true, that is too bad, as both Le Chiffre in CR and Mr. Green in QOS were rather weak villains, but Christensen’s Mr. White menacing in the background, had the potential to be a great villain. Unlike many of the recent villains, he appeared to have a certain gravitas that all great villains should have.

IMO the last good villain in a Bond film was Sean Bean's Alec Trevelyan and the last great villain was Adolfo Celli’s Emilio Largo in TB. TB also had one the great hench person's in Lucianna Paluzzi

I'm really interested to see this. Makes me wonder if he kills Mr. White or they simply get arrested like Vesper's boyfriend. Either way I would like to see some closure on the character.

talk is cheap, perhaps if quantum or spectre what ever you want to call it lol was revisited in bond 24 and he was asked to return. would be suprised if he turned it down. only just returned to site after months away so know nothing about bond 23 story, plot etc.

If he is really not coming back, I wonder how this will affect the story arc that began in CR. I have a feeling that even if the bad guy in Bond 23 is not part of Quantum, their will be a reference to MI6 and the CIA wanting to stop them at all costs now that they know just how deep Quantum's influence runs in government affairs.

PS: Was Gregory Beam (CIA director for South American activities in QOS) aware of Greene's connection to Quantum or was he just out to make himself look good for his bosses by helping stage the coupe in Bolivia?

Jesper must be rich or just plain stupid to make the remarks attributed to him in the article.

Anyone trying to make a living as an actor should welcome a part like that of "Mr. White" in a Bond film. To refer to either Casino Royale '06 or Quantum of Solace as "sh*t" says more about Jesper than about the films.

"Mr. White" was a very interesting, but ultimately disposable villian, if that's the way our Danish friend really feels.... I say "good riddance"!

I'm from Denmark and i read an interview with Jesper. I can confirm that he is NOT going to be playing Mr. white in Bond 23. He said that he is glad he has to do no more than two movies. He says that the movies are ****, and that everybody dies in them, so two movies must be enough.

A 1980's series about a danish girl named Nana, and her family. All danes know who Nana is, and i have always thought of her when i saw Mr. white in JB.

Just saw Christensen in Young Victoria (fine film, and God do I love Emily Blunt!), playing a nobleman and certainly no comparison to Mr. White in terms of an impact role in a film. Well-dressed for the 19th century and lovely upper-crust manner. Maybe that counts for something? I guess whatever makes him happy! 8-)

Pity. Really liked his character, and something interesting could have been done with him. He had wit, malice and glee, and I would have liked to see him again. Let's just hope we'll have a good script that will make his absence a moot point.

Well, I'm kind of glad he won't be in it; not because I didn't like him or am offended by his comments but because I really don't want to see the movie mired in tying up loose ends from the previous two films.

I remember the Star Trek trilogy years ago that took six or seven years to basically tell one story that takes place in the span of a few months onscreen. The actors all aged and got heavier, and the stories, after the first one, never quite lived up to the two year or so wait for the next film. So, maybe this will force the Bond producers to move 007 forward rather than have him spending so much time dwelling on the same basic points.

I think Quantum should be an element, or maybe even a bigger organization. I saw a "Mission: Impossible" episode from one of the crap later seasons, but it did have an intriguing plot point: The IMF convinced a terrorist about to unleash an assassination plot of U.S. military officials that an even bigger, badder organization existed -- and wanted to absorb the smaller one. Or else. I wouldn't mind if it turns out Quantum has a rival in something even worse, perhaps SPECTRE, which solves the problem once and for all by basically wiping Quantum out and taking its rightful place in the 007 universe.

Mr. White had a presence and Jesper was a good actor, but ultimately White came across as a mid-ranking enforcer and not the supreme leader of Quantum. Quantum can easily be changed or expanded on a lot by Bond 23, but I wouldn't want it to be replaced by SPECTRE, though Quantum could have a Russian syndicate as rivals (they could assassinate Gregor Karakov and take over his operations).
