Yes actually. Well meaning but ultimately ending up making a cut and paste Bond film. We don't need yet another Bond film giving nods to the past stuff. Quantum of Solace is almost as guilty as Die Another Day in the respect taking the old ideas and stuffing them into a new film.

We'll just have to disagree, as I don't feel that classic Connery and DAD are that much alike. Showing scenes or images from past films, in the opening credits, is IMO quite different than 'cutting and pasting' a kitchen sinker, with recycled story elements permeating the entire film.
But I won't be drawn into such a tired debate...and you've already admonished me about "jumping to conclusions" in this thread :x

I am just really tired of citing past Bond films, in any form, when these movies should be moving foward instead of harping on when it used to be fresh. Bond 23 should have as much obligation to be a good film for the sake of just being a good film, not because of some anniversary.

It's just that, based on known history, Eon strikes me as highly unlikely to let a 50th Anniversary pass quietly---not jumping to conclusions, nor endorsing the mentality which led to DAD...just drawing a logical hypothesis based upon known factual data. And if they're unable to resist the impulse, a tribute-themed title sequence is (IMRO) the least obtrusive way in which to indulge it. And then just have a movie! :007)

I just hope it's largely regulated to anything outside the films. Some collectable merchandise and such.

Give us a gunbarrel before the teaser, a little more of the James Bond Theme and as "Barry-escue" a score as possible, bring back "Q" (I don't know if Moneypenny would fit anymore), have Craig's Bond complete his evolution into the cold, sardonic, hedonistic, government troubleshooter / assassin we love and of course the ultimate homage would be to put this all together and make the best damn Bond film ever.
Should Bond 23 be released on July 2012 instead of November? That would also coincide with the Summer Olympics in London. I expect Bond 23 be released on July 27, 2012 or a week earlier. They should make an Olympic-themed Bond movie.

Pretty much agreed (although I'd personally like to see Moneypenny return in any case)! Bond 23 should be nothing short of amazing. Connery has his Goldfinger, Roger Moore had his Spy Who Loved Me... let's see what'll come out of Craig's third outing. -{

Moneypenny should be more of a Personal assistant than a secretary, and I see no reason why she shouldn't return.

I think that's good plot for another kind of thriller, not a James Bond film.
I like the ideas of some sort of 50th anniversary-esque title sequence, but thats it. We do deserve something, but not past props and quips a la DAD, Can't wait. Let the rumours and tidbits begin!
This is supposed to be a New Bond, so how can they have clips from older movies connected to it,The homage to Goldfinger in QOS was IMHO a mistake.Just try and make the Best film they can,and not cobble together a miss-mash of bits from earlier Bonds.Sadly I think the producers have one eye on the past glory of the Bond series and the other watching what J Bourne is doing,Leaving none to see the future direction of the series.
