Does Anyone Else Wish

I was sort of let down by the remake of Goldeneye. I wish they had just recreated the original game, but with better graphics and extended levels (I seem to remember a cafeteria in the facility in the movie). I loathed the new facility level. Does anyone else feel the same?

There is a problem with doing the original. SO many companies have ties to it and a couple of them wouldn't budge. The companies that have ties to it are: Nintendo, Rare and Microsoft, and Activision, since they have the Bond license.

The N64 game was in the process of being remade, it would have been for both the Wii (not sure if actual game or virtual console) and the Xbox Live Arcade but NO PS3, since Rare is owned by Microsoft. The deal was that if Nintendo would allow it to be done then Microsoft would allow the entire classic rare games, Banjo, Conker, Perfect Dark, Jet Force Gemini, Battletoads to name a few, to be released on the Virtual Console as well. But since Nintendo still has say so in that game, since it was made FOR them and they PAID for the Bond License at that time. So unless Nintendo can be persuaded to allow it, I wouldn't hold my breath for ever seeing it. Your best bet would be if you have a 360 get Perfect Dark on the Xbox Live Arcade, since it runs on the same engine as GoldenEye, you can pretty much get the sense of what it would have looked like. If you really want to see it, you can Google it and find the screen shots of what it would have looked like

Also, GoldenEye and Reloaded were not remakes it was a re-telling of the story, through Daniel Craig's style of 007. While it will never be a good substitute for the original game, GoldenEye Reloaded was fantastic.

People seem to miss this part of some adaptations. Goldeneye Reloaded was another adaptation of Goldeneye's story, not a remake at all. Same goes with True Grit (2010), which was another adaptation of the novel and not a remake of the previous film as some associated it with. This happened again with The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2011). Many people call it a remake, or more specifically a remake of the Swedish films, neglecting to understand that it has no ties to the Swedish films and is not an attempt to stomp over that interpretation. The 2011 film is Fincher's adaptation of the story from the books and is not a remake in any way, despite numerous media outlets and people calling the film a remake or an unnecessary Hollywood remake.

That said, I would love for Goldeneye to get the treatment that Perfect Dark got, being brought to HD.
