I've been trying to track down some other Zara items seen in Quantum for years with that exact issue. Once the season is passed, its an ebay search or give up :/

Folks, some time ago the shirt that Bond wears under his LVC jacket when he is "enjoying death" was identified and confirmed. As this shirt is from a few seasons past and the internet has been scoured we began to discuss if a shirt could have a second-run, much like the Billy Reid jacket. The company who made the shirt is Zara who did quite a bit in QoS as well. It looks like production used Zara's shirt and made some changes to it (removing a grey placket etc..) but one of our own members, Lagoona, actually owns the correct shirt (congrats, brother!).

We have been in contact with Zara corporate to re-issue the shirt, but I believe they need some old fashioned SOCIAL MEDIA voices to be heard from the Bond community....so, much like the Billy Reid coat initiative, I would love to see who might be interested in Zara doing another run. Once we have some "voices" on this thread, I will point our contact to this board and thread to illustrate the demand. Will it work? I don't know, but perhaps there are other companies as responsive as Billy Reid...and I have no idea what the price point would be, but let yourself be heard if you would be interested. Below is a pic of Lagoona's RARE shirt!

    I'd be interested too please

Hi guys, since when The Mantis and Lagoona knows the shirt is from Zara ? Because I have a lot of friends who work in Zara and they told me that 3 weeks ago they sent back 25 shirts to Spain , and an other shop close to me sent back 12 shirts.

Are they able to return them to the UK?

Count me in. I bought the Casino Roayle tuxedo shirt from Turnbull & Asser and was lucky enough to have been included in the Madagascar shirt project when that was produced so I am an enthusiastic "Yes!" on this shirt as well.

Hope something will happening with the Zara Shirt. The Zara Stores near me didn´t know anything about it,

I thought someone said it was winter 2011? If anything else, though, I think it would have been spring 2012.

Just popped into the local Zara. I'm down for a commission, as I said, but their stuff seems much more affordable/mass produced than I was expecting, given their inclusion in the film.

When I've been in a pinch, both Zara and H&M have come in very handy. The two seem somewhat comparable.

That was my thought exactly! It's a very upscale looking store in a high end shopping neighborhood. But the prices are very low. A lot of their casual dress shirts would look good with the jacket, honestly.

Zara, has so low prices, what did you expect?
    Made in England?
Inditex is the 2 biggest clothing retailer in the world , they have not the best quality but, at this pricepoint the items are ok.

By the looks of the scene I think he is supposed to look cheap and scruffy (though in truth the jacket is expensive, I presume they chose it because it is distressed)

I hope something works out, though if truth be told this is not really an expensive garment like say the Billy Reid coat etc and Zara is huge hence they might see this as not worth their while just to sell 100 shirts!\

What was the shirt retail? 20-30 quid??

Definitely not taking the approach of making Zara a bundle....more of a marketing and pr stance...keep that in mind when posting.

true, you know i find it funny and strange at the same time that the new costume designer chose clothing items that are already out of season now. it makes it even more difficult for us as collectors and fans to get our hands on it. the hunt is fun.. however im not too pleased with the lack of "noise" as DZ would put it that some brands have done for their products. hopefully DZ will help them realize this is a good move for them. true the shirt may be inexpensive but its what the people want, itll be good for business!

Cool and very true, I mean which clothing brand would not want to be associated with 007 / Skyfall!

Exactly...and I will be very transparent with all of you (and hopefully all of the Zara executives reading this?)...although our approach with Billy Reid is somewhat different, I believe their association with our group is a win win from many angles. We will be doing some fun and interesting things together very soon which will be both beneficial to us as well as them. For Zara, I believe this is an opportunity for them to attach themselves to some VERY positive social media marketing that has been generated by people OTHER than their PR agency...this is the highest level of marketing manna. As well, the Bond association is one that, as others have mentioned, is a marketer's dream come true...what one makes of that association in the short time they have is left up to them.

i agree 100% Dave! looking forward to hearing more. cant wait for Skyfall to open up too

    Kaleema,

Keep in mind that the Costume Designer began sourcing wardrobe items when they were hired on the film. This film began pre-production well over a year ago, so her choice of clothing would have been Spring 2011 or even a season earlier. We know the Barbour jacket and Billy Reid jacket came from last season. In many cases, a Product Placement team can step in and work with the clothing label or brand (or cellphone, soda, car, or alcohol, etc. label) for an endorsement deal in which the item(s) are prominently featured. This usually involves the label/brand paying for the placement or providing the item(s) free of charge.

In many cases though, a clothing line may not even know who/why is buying a number of their items. Of course, it's more obvious when a Costumer requests/purchases a large quantity of the same shirt, pants, etc. but just because they are purchased, it doesn't mean they will be used in the final film, tv show, etc. There's a lot of red tape that goes into these product placement deals as well, and for many companies, it's just not worth the time or cost of a legal team, etc. to draft these deals.

    Kind regards,
    Craig

The costume designer's priority is costuming the film. It's somebody else's job in production if they want specific brands or placements and partnerships to be featured on screen. While a designer may be told some of the brands she is to source from and collaborate with, I'd assume she was largely just doing her job when she picked out clothes, regardless of if they are still available now or not.

While it is good for the featured brands to make that association known, if it is done as an informal purchase of supplies, rather than as a partnership for marketing, there's plenty of chance that the brands may not know to make a big deal of one of the many purchases they probably get.

Well said. It takes a TEAM of people to bring a Director's vision of a film to life. I think Bond is a particularly unique case because so many voices are involved with exactly what is going to be seen (and worn) on-screen. Bond has always had a history of product placement. This Forum has certainly justified the reason for that as we are the very ones who are buying those items, whatever they may be - from the Aston Martin he drives to the clothes on his back to the liquor he drinks. Put simply, Bond is a brand that has resonated with generations of men (and women) for 50 years... and counting. There's certainly no sign of that enthusiasm slowing down by any means.

    Kind regards,
    Craig

Everybody should know that Zara don’t care about advertising and PR… they have a saying ”if it can’t be sold with no advertising” then it is not right… they probably don’t care **** about us.

Zara the Spanish H&M – kind of surprised that Bond would were that brand
