Db5 Aston Martin replica project 2013

Hey guys , im starting to freak out as the aston martin db5 has really gotten into my head.
But at the moment i cant splash out aud 600 grand on a car ( maybe in a few years i will )

Was wondering if you know any replica's that are for sale? I know there was a dbs and zagayo replica that was made .....but no db5?
If there arent any then i plan to make a life size replica and would love any details or measurements on the car ifyou have any
Cheers
Sme have suggested that i start with a datsun or holden then tottally start from scratch only taking the structure of the vehicle

Would appreciate your input and support guys
Cheers

    Hi
There are no companies making replicas of these there was one guy in one of our car mechanic magazines who made one for racing from a mould of a real one he owned but no other replicas avalible :(

I always thought a Jaguar XJS might be a good candidate - 6 cylinder engine, wire wheels can be fitted. The quality of the interior is excellent - also you can replace outer body panels

I have full plans of the DBR1 bodyshell B-)

I saw there was a DB3S replica, and ASM do a DBR2 replica.

I've seen a DB9 volante replica, it went for £35k on ebay.

    I've never seen a replica DB5 though.

Oh and there's a god awful vanquish copy, it's a body kit for a jaguar xk8, called an 'Ash-Mart' or something, total pile of crap.

The worst I've seen is a body kit for a Mazda MX5, to turn it into a vanquish :D I think they overlooked the fact you could park an MX5 in the engine bay of a vanq :)) well, you probably can't, but you get the idea.

I too have been wanting to build one for many ( about 20) years - I have tons of bits. There is a guy near Preston trying to build one around a BMW convertible, apparently a similar wheelbase.

A formed aluminium body will probably cost in the region of £25k

I have never understood why a kit car maker has never designed a kit as its a relatively low volume production but each one would get a high price

voituer, maby you know were to find used aston parts then?
and parts that are similar to aston from other cars?
I where in contact with a company called "puddleduck"but they`ve
    closed down.
My first thougt when i started looking into this project was
"worlds most famous car "of course there is a kit,but .....no.
I actually went to see the bond in motion just for the db5
    took a ton of pictures :D .
  • VoituerVoituer Posts: 483MI6 Agent
I collected my parts about 7 years ago I bought from Pudldleduck and Aston Workshop etc.

then the prices of Aston suddenly shot up, a DB5 then was about £125,000 now it is over £300,000 and many people charge a lot more for the parts.

I did try and sell my parts last year as they were getting in the way but now have new storage so they are still here!

I will post you a pic

Excuse the gaffer tape but there is no structure so all the pieces are loose and just placed together. Actually most of its a bit special in a Bond way but that is irrelevant to this thread

    Ignorance is bliss :))

That guy did a great job on the fibreglass car, just read the article - fascinating, all the things I had wanted to do but never got around to!

Apparently the car is not much further on and according to another website is on the back burner, wonder if he fancies selling or making another ................................

So, another evidence for dictator censorship here, Granny Miles :v

I vividly remember your involvement (arousement 8-) ) and I have searched up and down without success.

But I am sure that many have good memories on that - except Asp 9 micrometer perhaps

    Good times 8-)

Got My db5 1:18 scale model today looks great.
Made by auotart.got to have something to take
    Measurement from :D.took length measurments
And it's scale .(checked at carfoolio.com).
And the grille would be like 103-104 cm wide.
Voiture. Could you confirm this ( or any one else)?
Since you are half db5 owner. :)
