Where have all of our long-term members gone?

Is it just me or have many of our older members vanished never to return here on AJB? Every time I click on member names they seem to be from a few days ago/late last year. While it is great to see so many new members joining, I do wonder where all of our older members have went to.

Also, is there a two-fold approach here at AJB between the Collectibles and the Rest of the forum?

Do we need to attract more members to the Literary Bond discussions?

Just a few random thoughts I thought I should note down here on AJB.

I suppose it depends upon which 'older' members you mean...?...

A two-fold approach...?...not sure what you are getting at.... ?:)

Well, there seems to be a split between the collectables sub-forum and the rest of AJB - some members only post in either one or another.

By 'older' members I mean Willie Garvin and Marik Hazard etc.?

    Some people only come here for the Collecting Forum, that's true..but then I've been told that AJB has got a great reputation for the wealth of knowledge its members share -{

I know that Willie Garvin was taken very ill a couple of years back and he was spending all of his time in trying to get well...not sure about Mark Hazard off the top of my head though...no idea about etc either ;)

Define old? Would you consider me old (I won't take offense)?

As for the forums, I don't venture into the Literature or Collecting forum. I have no collections and can't afford to start collecting. Was never much on reading after I departed high school.

Perhaps "long-term members" might be a more flattering phrase....? :)

(I believe I qualify under "older" as well.... :)) )

Sorry to hear about Willie. Out of all the members, he was the one I respected the most. His posts were invariably well thought out, articulate and intelligent. He seemed like a very nice man, I really hope he is better now.

I hope Willie is better now to. I remember him being discussed after he had taken ill. He came back a few times when he was able to. Actually, just checked. Willie hasn't posted here since 2011. He was semi-active in the summer of 2011. Hoping he makes a return.

Sad to hear that re Willie Garvin - I wish him a speedy recovery.

EDIT: Sorry, I meant long-term members, not O.A.P.s!

Thread title was Lost in Translation!

Thank you, Hardy. Delighted to know that Willie is still around, that is the most important thing. Like Sir Miles, please give him my best wishes. :)

I still drop in from time to time. As well as my cousin Luke. But usually only around the time that there's a new film out, or an announcement of some sort. I believe based on my join date that I was part of the original crew from Bond20.com!

What ever happened to SiCo? He doesn't appear to have posted for almost a year! Did he see Skyfall?

He is the Missing One - but I am told on good authority that he will return soon...here's hoping and fingers crossed! ;)

I wouldn't bet too heavily on Si returning anytime soon...but you never know...

Yes, we can only live in hope that SiCo will return soon to AJB!

Even though I am the author of this thread, I omitted to say that I was a semi-regular member of AJB between 2003 and 2005, I returned briefly almost five years to the day in 2010 and I came back as a regular member in September 2012, so I'm one to talk about where all of our long-term members have gone to! :))
