Read that a few days ago, very interesting article.
I like how What Culture is producing quite a few Bond related stuff lately like Top Ten Bond characters that should return in Bond 24.
    Thanks for posting Perdogg

Great article. However, I feel the Bond in the Novel "Live and Let Die" was younger in character development than the Craig character currently is in his line of films.

Spoiler from the novel - At the end of the book, Bond went through an incredibly stressful final moments with Mr. Big. When Bond was finally yanked into the boat and his ordeal was over, the combination of stress and final relief, was so great for the inexperienced agent that Bond vomited over the side of the boat. I can't see Craig's current Bond being overwhelmed to that state.

Although, I have to say seeing an adaptation of "Live and Let Die" the novel done in a film in a way that was true to the way Fleming wrote it would really be enjoyable. It's still one of my favorite Fleming novels.

Quite sure there will never be a remake in the series, at least not with Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson involved.

This all sounds very interesting. Will have to have a read of that article later. Thanks so much for posting that link, perdogg.

LALD is one of my favourite films of the Roger Moore era and therefore I wouldn't want to see it remade...it just wouldn't be the same. Having said that I wouldn't mind seeing Elba as a Bond villain!

I'd be all for it myself - the novel's never received a proper adaptation, just like Casino Royale before it, so I think it would be really great (under a new title) such as The Undertaker's Wind.

Well, they could have followed the original CR with that, would have been good. Though we had a few black villains or nasty characters in CR and it might have seemed to be sort of going with a theme back then. Dunno. They'd have to give it a different name imo.

Also clicked on the Wade and Purvis feature. It is a shame bearing in mind the length of their stint that the series had no real theme to it imo. Still, it was only two with Pierce, maybe 3 with Craig, depending on Logan's input.

I'm against it. I go back to the whole reboot idea. If this is a reboot, then move forward as if none of the previous twenty movies before CR ever happened. Otherwise, we'll have a whole bunch of rehashes.

I'd like to see some of Gardner's novels brought in. He has some great story lines that could be used. And to my knowledge, have never been used.
Beg your pardon, forgot to knock...

DAF/TMWTGG/TSWLM/MR never recieved a proper adaptation either. At least LALD largely had the same villains as in the novel. A remake of DAF would be a lot more welcome.

    Anyway the day that EON start remaking Bond films is the day that signals to me that they've ran out of ideas for Bond. I'd be happier with a TV series of Bond set in the 50's that covers the novels. That way they could even cover the MR/TSWLM novels which otherwise wouldn't have much material for a 2 hour + film. -{

-{ Agreed 100%, If they can't or don't, have the imagination to come up with
Contemporary stories, Then it's time to stop the series. :#

Although I don't mind them using parts of the books that have never been filmed before.

Well realistically they could have done that with LALD. Call it something else, have a voodoo theme (like Angel Heart), carve up Felix and off you go. More of a nod to Live and Let Die really, but following the theme.

There is virtually nothing left from the LALD novel that wasn't used in either the LALD film, FYEO or LTK. It would be crazy to try to do a remake/re-adaptation.

It would have to be done in a certain way though. The Racial References in the Novel are Decades out of Date. Even by 73 they were seen as old Hat.

If this does go well, I would like to see a faithful Adaptation of Moonraker.

I always liked "The Undertaker's Wind" as a title for a Bond film, but there's no way they'd greenlight that title with the obvious double entendre...

yes me too , LALD was a good film for its time
but we cant go back to that cliche of all the black guys being cast as the villians
i thought we had progresed from that ,lets move on

Yes, but in many of these cases it's not a case of a remake, but a first make - the first true adaptation of the novel a la Casino Royale.

I'm guessing that is a big steaming pile of you know what. Nothing close to factual except an alleged meeting between Idris Elba and Barbara Broccoli. It's amazing how the media can twist nothing into something ie the "Bond 24 delayed until 2016" which was their twist on "guaranteed the MGM stockholders that there would be a new Bond film released within 3 years".

Can't be long before the rumors " Idris Elba " for the next Bond start. :))

Remember when Wesley Snipes was "the next Bond" dujour. It's like the media has their big book of Bond rumours that they dust off and recirculate between films. They should come up with some more original stuff like:" Alfred Hitchcock to return from the dead to direct next Bond film but only if EON agrees to let him bring Cary Grant back with him to play Bond". :s

I have mixed feelings on the idea of a remake of Live and Let Die. I do enjoy that movie, but a remake would be a bad move, IMHO. I think a more faithful adaptation of the book would be best with a different title. As for Idris Elba being a potential future Bond villain I'm all for that! :)
