Which movie has the best intro song?

raptors_887raptors_887 CanadaPosts: 215MI6 Agent
I've only gotten up to FYEO on the movie list so far but I thought that was by far the best intro song out of all of them up until 1981 atleast. I've been playing it over and over again LOL.

What movie do you think has the best intro song?
1: Casino Royale 2: Goldeneye 3: Skyfall 4: Octopussy 5: Goldfinger 6: Tomorrow Never Dies 7: The World Is Not Enough 8: The Living Daylights 9: From Russia With Love 10: The Spy Who Loved Me

I'd say Shirley Bassey's Moonraker - very underrated!

I find it hard to decide between the classic James Bond theme that introduced Dr No, the big brassy notes teamed up with the powerful voice of Dame Shirley Bassey in Goldfinger, and in a similar vein, Thunderball. Those three are by far my favourite Bond film theme songs.

Honourable mention to Tina Turner's GoldenEye. I love that song.

I agree that Shirley Bassey's Moonraker is underrated, a very good ballad. As for the best intro, my vote goes to John Barry's magnificent instrumental On Her Majesty's Secret Service. And backed up by a magnificent score.

Shouldn't this be in the music forum?

It probably crosses over...but its better here...

    I think OHMSS by Barry is the best title track...closely followed by Live And Let Die and Another Way To Die -{

Back on topic, IMO the best Bond title song would be a toss-up between Carly Simon's Nobody Does it Better, and Sheena Easton's For Your Eyes Only.

Most of the other songs are pretty good, though.

What a can of worms to open...I would probably comment on my LEAST favorites (none of the Brosnan films are memorable to me for theme songs... Another Way To Die from QoS is an abomination to me, sorry Sir Miles)...

I love You Know My Name and Skyfall... for classics OHMSS tops them all... AVTAK is up there as is FRWL, GF, TB, LALD and Moonrake is so understated...

    To quote Alan Partridge.

"That's not the end of the beginning. The end of the beginning goes like this: glang! Glanalangalangalangalangalang! Glanalang, langalangalanga, nobody does it better - and I'm a naked woman in silhouette with a gun, spinning round - Makes me feel sad for the rest. Nobody does it - ooh, bit of nipple - quite as good as you. Baby, you're the best. Da, da, da - and now a really big bounce right over and I land on my feet. Da, da, da, da, da, der. I wasn't looking, so now you found me... ooh, bit of bush, er - I tried to hide from your love life - and a woman swinging on a Luger, a giant Luger; ooh, look at that... Like heaven above me - and now another naked woman walking along the top of a gun, completely Billy Bollocks... The spy who loved me is keeping all my secrets safe tonight - and then one more big swing from the woman; legs go right up - ooh, what was that? Too late... Nobody does it half as good as you, baby you're the best!"

I once met Alan Partridge dressed as Alan Partridge at his book signing. AHA!

As you can imagine the 007 episode is my all time favorite!
For those of you who haven't seen Alan Partridge 'sing' Nobody Does It Better here is the link:

I'm currently listening the audio book aof 'I,Partridge' and there is a part where he talks about imagining he's Roger Moore in AVTAK to gain confidence. Brilliant!! So funny!

Absolutely love You Know My Name! But mainly just because it works so well with the intro as a whole.

Movies: The Spy Who Loved Me. Actor: Pierce Brosnan. Theme: You Only Live Twice. :D

There are only 3 intro songs that I really don't like. That would be:
    Madonna-Die Another Day
Lulu-The Man With The Golden Gun
Jack White and Alicia Keys-Another Way To Die

Besides those 3, I virtually enjoy all the Bond themes. If I had to rank my top 10, it would go like this:
    10-Sheena Easton-For Your Eyes Only
    9-Duran Duran-A View To A Kill
    8-A-Ha-The Living Daylights
    7-Garbage-The World Is Not Enough
    6-Tina Turner-Goldeneye
5-Paul McCartney and Wings-Live and Let Die
    4-Shirley Bassey-Goldfinger
    3-Chris Cornell-You Know My Name
    2-Adele-Skyfall
    1-Carly Simon-Nobody Does It Better
"When it gets up to your ankles, you're going to beg to tell me everything. When it gets up to your knees, you'll kiss my ass to kill you!"

Of course a soft spot also for the Bassey songs and Live and let die.

I like DAD also. I heard it in club 'Space' in Miami and it sounded fantastic! Had a great beat/bass. Not sure if you can see it as a Bond song, but I did like it.

I am not a great fan of the slower songs though, like all time high, nor am I a fan of the World is not enough and I loathe the song from QoS.

Live and let die is my fave Bond theme. I also love the On her majesty's theme. B-) Goldfinger, Nobody does it better, You only live twice. More recently I love You know my name and Skyfall. I hated Die another die, not right for a Bond film. I do like Madonna as well. I expected more from her. The QOS theme was just as bad. They're the only 2 I don't like.
I've just been playing Blondie's album (The Hunter) which contains a different theme to For your eyes only. As much as I love the one that was chosen, I actually prefer Blondie's song. Does anyone know of any more rejected Bond themes by well known artists? Rich.

Alice Cooper did a song for TMWTGG and Jarvis Cocker
did one for OP, There's a Johnny Cash song for TB. All
have appeared on different albums and you can probably
    hear them on youtube. :)
