Vocals only, Cart? Misses out on two truly iconic John Barry performances + one nearly so.

Here are the artists who I actually appreciate:

    John Barry (Seven)
    Tom Jones
    Shirley Bassey
    Paul McCartney
    Carly Simon

I don't really care for/care about the rest

Barbel, did Barry play on either of the 1962 recordings of the Bond theme (the Dr. No version or the "John Barry Orchestra" version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bovyeAUamko)?

It would be hard to compare john barry to carly simon to be fair

Matt S: No, he didn't. He was phasing out his own trumpet playing as fast as he could, never thought his piano playing was good enough for recording, (and only sang when he had to!).

i had a hard time ranking sheena easton low. FYEO is one of my favorite bond themes, but easton doesn't have much besides that song.

By that reckoning, how come Paul McCartney isn't higher? Few can compare to his statistics (you can argue about whether or not he's to your taste, but the numbers are inescapable).

Which is exactly what I'm doing. Okay, perhaps putting Garbage above him was a little overboard though...
