I may have fallen for an urban myth but I was told that celebs don't wear sunglasses and hats to blend in but because photographers get less money for photos of celebs in shades, so they're less of a target for the paprazzi.

Besides, better a flat cap than a baseball cap 8-)

This is very important context to keep in mind while we have this discussion.

I think others have made solid points, I feel his wardrobe decision making is likely a combo of all factors mentioned here.

Flat caps are very common in parts of London now, working class roots or not. The only time I get funny looks wearing them nowadays is when I visit the family in Ireland at Christmas as they're seen as an old man thing still over there.

It hasn't stopped paparazzi from going after Daniel Craig. I don't even recognise people I know well when I see them in sunglasses!

I was thinking instead of various posts everywhere that we organize things into one. Makes it easier does it not? I looked but did not find a thread like this so in case I missed it please delete this one.

    I know from reading other posts that DC wears or has worn in the past the following items in real life;

    Hats/caps: Stetson
    Shirts: Sunspel
    Belts:
    Pants: Scotch & Soda
    Socks:
    Shoes/Boots:
    Watch:
    Personal grooming:

Feel free to add anything missing.

Oh my, I can understand it when a collector recreates a wardrobe from a particular movie, but why would anyone want to know what a particular actor wears off screen? It borders on stalking to me. Would people really like to know what underwear Craig prefers and how his socks stink?

I believe I saw somewhere that Craig wear 2(x)ist underwear for all the stalkers out there!!!

While I perfectly understand the desire to use the famous we admire - or not! - as fashion templates, I AM amazed about the desire for YOUNG AJBers tyring to emulate Craig.

If you are in your 20s, early 30s why in hell would you want to dress like an old man who's probably your dad's age??????

I'm 46 and color blind. Needless to say sometimes my fashion choices are not the greatest. I know I've done wrong when my wife smirks and says I need to go change.

I admire the clothing he wears. I'm not looking to copy exactly what he wears, but more to know what brands he wears/uses.

Having a template (DC) to emulate helps me look somewhat normal and not ridiculous. :)

I don't think you have to defend/explain yourself. you can wear whatever you want, you choose.
I think it's a bit drastical of others to call you a "stalker", just because you want to know the name of the brand ?:)

I recall a period from 2008-2011 where I think Craig was pretty well-dressed in the photos that I happened to see. Since then, I don't think he has dressed well at all and cannot draw any inspiration from his non-Bond clothing.

As for this particular outfit, I agree that he didn't put much effort into it and was probably just doing his best to blend in and wear comfortable clothes for a flight. I can't fault him for that.

Pretty sure you can add Barbour International to his personal wardrobe when it comes to coats/jackets.

By all means, if you like an actor’s personal style, take inspiration from them (Paul Newman was a great example here, and there would be even more female style icons, like Marilyn Monroe or Catherine Hepburn), what I fear is when the borders become blurred and inspiration turns into obsession, like the guy who shot dead John Lennon…

And, as for DC caps, they are about the only element of his "style" that I find attractive.

As one of the younger AJBers here I figured I would chime in. I am 22 and say that Craig is my style influence. Would I have said this if he wasn't Bond? No. But I am thankful I was introduced to him and his other work through Bond. Obviously I will go for the looks in the Bond movies but I have also really enjoyed seeing what he wears in his other movies: Layer Cake, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Dream House etc. I know for a fact I won't look like him at all but it introduces me to brands that I know are stylish and great quality. It also leads to me buying from them items that Craig might not get but to me thats fine because I am liking and supporting a good brand/company in what they are doing. I also am just beginning to work in the clothing industry and it certainly has helped me with knowledge for clients and my own personal style. I never take anything he wears out in public too seriously cause I know that he is trying to blend in, but there are always some real good items that get photographed that look great. I also look at Brosnan and the clothes he wears in his movies these days and other paparazzi photos. I am not trying to dress like an older man but I certainly am going for a more professional yet stylish look. Most guys my age could careless and it shows. It helps me stand out in anything I do and in turn makes me more successful I believe. Plus it all makes my obsession with all things Bond mean even more!

This is one of the funniest threads without higgins and asp' double act! :))

Why would someone in their mid twenties want to dress like a millionaire movie star, I have no idea 8-)

    Back on topic;

Think I'm going back to the renaissance of the flatcap and pre-SF but I'm sure he was wearing a Lock and Co flatcap?

You've said it perfect. I am exactly the same way as a younger Bond fan. I'm 19 and what he states is exactly true. Except I'm not working in the clothing industry. I'm becoming a music teacher ha :007)

If his street clothes are indicative, I'd terminate his stylist with extreme prejudice. The man needs to dress like the Brozza or Sir Rog and he needs an AJB pin--at all times. Life IS a country club, 007!

People were questioning DC wearing Jcrew pacer boots; the beidge suede boots with brick sole from the airport shops. Didn't think he'd wear Jcrew. Looks like he is wearing their baja pullover shirt at the beach. So DC looks to be a fan of Jcrew. Adds a little more to the boots.

Damn, nice spot TheExit148. I don't see what's so wrong with J.Crew, I know it's not exactly Tom Ford, but they still make decent items and do a lot of collaborations with more prestigious brands.

In the end, it's not about labels or where it's from, it's about whether it's looks and feels right on you.
I find the pic of Mr Craig and Ms Weisz en route in post 21 interesting because my attention focused on the bodyguards outfit. Why? Because it looks comfortable, fashionably casual and practical for a bloke of larger build. Ie, I think that sort of gear would work for me, regardless whether it's Tom Ford, Tesco FF or Tiso outdoors!

If you want to dress like a celebrity (any celebrity) that's up to you, and if you do, I hope it works for you. Me, I work out my own style with my Grandad as an influence on classic tailoring. I tend to shop about (inc bargain places and charity shops) for my casual stuff, such as jeans, tops and some shirts. You'd be surprised what lovely good quality clothes are out there at very little cost.
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?
  • TheExit148TheExit148 Posts: 562MI6 Agent
Yep you are correct. If it's a nice piece regardless, that whats good about it.

Those are the Frame Denim jeans he's been spotted wearing recently, along with the Rick Owens jacket. Not sure of the shirt maker or boots.

    Kind regards,
