While I can't suply a photo since the tree is still out in the forest somewhere. But my family is very particular about the tree and the decorations. Decorating the tree is an art form. The lights must be evenly placed around the tree, not to close to each other and not far apart. Next come the baubles. They should hang close to the lights to make the light reflect in the baubles. They must also be placed around according to size and colour. Three large baubles can't hang next to each other, neither can three red ones.
The next job is to hang the ..... the .... these: (what are they called in English?)

There are also angels, stars etc. Quite a lot of the decorations are hand made. Both my parents were arts and crafts teachers, so when we were kids some December Sundays were spent making decorations. :) Glitter decorations are banned, while the star at the top is mandatory. This picture can give you an idea how it'll look:

I had a selfie all ready to send, then I read it again " Christmas Decs !" :D

We don't put up decorations untill perhaps a week before the event. Decorating
the tree is a family thing. We open a tin of sweets and all do a bit. :)

For some reason my shrink will hopefully find, I need to know if there is an English name for the heart-shaped type of decoration seen here. If so, how common is it?

^ I have to say I've not seen those tree decorations in the UK, Number 24, but perhaps other members have.

I've done some research. The English name is 'Pleated Christmas hearts'. The Norwegian is is "julekorger/Christmas basket" or "or "Julehjerter/Christmas hearts". "Julehjerter" is also used in Denmark. According to Wikipedia the pleated Christmas hearts are common in Denmark and northern Germany, but I would have to add Norway. Traditionally the hearts were hung on the tree and filled with candy or raisins. The first known pleated Christmas heart was made by the famous Danish fairy-tale author Hans Christian Andersen in 1860.

We don't decorate the tree until the 23d (here the big day is the 24th).

If Jeremy Corbyn becomes PM, things might change for the Scandinavian. He might bake "broken rifle" gingerbreads himself.

True. Do you remember when Reagan war president? Many of us saw him as an extremist and a simpleton. But after Bush jr, Sarah Palin and Trump, he looks like an intelligent and reasonable man :D
Reagan was willing to work with the Democrats, he was willing to listen to scientist about the ozon layer, held the christian right at an arms length and cut nuclear weapons together with the Soviets.

I really hope that Trump is a flash in the pan and when it comes to it, he'll
Be rejected. Because I genuinely feel he's dangerous. :#

So January 6th is Little Christmas in NI? Here we call the 23d of December "Little Christmas Eve".
That evening it's «Same procedure as every year, James!». We watch "Dinner for One/Grevinnen og hovmesteren".

I think Jan 6th is old Christmas day ( The calendar changed)
So to cover themselves, some go to church etc.
I only step in to a church for Weddings and Funerals, so I'm no
    expert on the subject. ;)
