Just wondered, why is there so little Bond vinyl on YouTube? You can't move for Beatles on vinyl and every other band, be it mono, stereo, remastered etc, but virtually nothing of the 60s Barry Bonds, so to speak.

Is the Bond music on vinyl different than the music on CD? I know with the Beatles there are different mixes.

Well, it's the sound. Don't get me started, but really a lot of audiophiles like the sound of vinyl, and while on youtube it wouldn't do it justice totally, it does a bit.

I mean, the Beatles White Album is imo way better in vinyl and I don't listen to it in digital format at all. Yes, lookout for the mono vinyl of Helter Skelter it is pure punk, and She's Leaving Home in mono is faster, the mono of Paperback Writer too. But the digital mix of these tracks would be the same, but vinyl gives it a vibe, a warmth and sex appeal.

GF is one album which just sounds great in analogue, it's the Barry feel.

Don't get me started! I'm one of those people who thinks vinyl sounds the best. The improved sound of vinyl is due to it not being digital. Putting it on YouTube makes it digital and compresses it, losing the benefits of vinyl. The true benefit of vinyl is quality, not the scratched and the warmer sound. The warmer sound is not the intention of the music. If it was, other media forms would mimic the warmth through effects. People like the warmth for nostalgia.

Vinyl does sound better if its looked after, there is more audio on vinyl than cd even less audio on mp3 ,if you have 5-6 songs per side on vinyl it has more depth roundness and warmth ,don't get me wrong I'm not saying that cd doesn't sound good but I think vinyl sounds better especially if the original source is analogue.

CD has actually been proven to have a greater dynamic range than vinyl, but vinyl has a great sound for other reasons.

So they say but when I compare them vinyl sounds better ,that's because digital has been cut in to bits but it still has to be put back together again for us to listen to it and with digital there is audio missing.but with analogue even with the hiss and static it sounds fuller.so I actually don't believe all the rubbish about analogue and digital,I believe my own ears .

As I type im listening to the James bond collection special 10 year anniversary edition on obviously.......vinyl.
I must say it was very well mastered it sounds massive through my floor standing big tannoys on my technics sl-1220 mk2.
At the end of each track you can hear the fade out of the studio master tape .you cant get any closer to the source than this !not even blueray audio will get this close it sounds so good .

Slightly off topic, but listening to a song on the radio yesterday, it had a
line in it, something like " put on our old love records" and I was wondering
How are the lyrics going to change for modern love songs ?
I uploaded our old love songs ? Or Downloaded my love ?
No more " Put the needle on the record !" :)

A couple of days ago I found a 7" EP of James Bond Themes. It's a United Artists release containing instrumental themes from the first four Bond films. These tracks are all on the soundtrack albums apart from this version of the FRWL theme which I'd never heard before so that was a nice surprise!

Here is a picture of the disc that I mentioned in my previous post. I'm really pleased with this find, even though the only recording on it that I didn't previously own is the version of FRWL on side 2. I've never come across it on CD or online. I'm assuming it was performed by the John Barry Seven, or the orchestra that Barry was recording the scores with.

    Spectre vinyl is on order

Your collection is looking very good, lotus.

I considered getting the Spectre soundtrack on vinyl, but its a bit too expensive for me. As a compromise, I just settled for the 'Writings on the Wall' single on 45rpm vinyl.
