I think it's the difference from watching your team play at a stadium, as opposed to watching it
    at home on TV.

Yes I can fully appreciate that. Howver IMHO a film should be able to stand on it's own two feet regardless of venue. GF, Dr No, FRWL etc etc aren't devalued when shown on TV.

But they ARE a more fun experience on the big screen with an engaged crowd.

Those films are **** fifty years old...and they come from the novels

    And?

    And?

What is that the answer of a 12 year old?

It would appear so. Apart from swearing you have nothing to add to the debate & are unwilling or unable - I guess the latter - to back up your case (BTW the swear filter becomes inactive when quoting.) Unless you are able to pass comment comment with a modicum of civility then I respectfully suggest you keep quiet.

The point is there is no point.

However I will expand. I cherry picked those titles but could subscribe my POV to Octopussy or LTK indeed almost every Bond film up to & including LTK. IMO they were all good films in their own right. Why have we presided over a decline in the standard of writing - even the fluffy stuff? If one person thinks that QoS, SF or Spectre were great films then that's brilliant & more power to their elbow but why do some people fail to appreciate that we have different opinions?

Threats eh? Who's being childish now? Once again I refer you back to my third from last post.

This is is a discussion board, for whatever reason you remain unwilling to engage in discussion. While I would welcome your input & point of view sadly it appears that you are unable or unwilling to give both & are restricting yourself to insults & threats.

As for armour please believe me when I say nothing or no one much scares me so you're really wasting your time if you decide to go down that path. A fivers worth of free advice - why not just stop being so aggressive & just join in the debate like a rational human being?

The great thing about AJB members ,is that we all see Bond ,wether its literay or cinematic ,(personaly one prefers the seclusion of the exclusive lounge in the cinema myself ) :D :D :D .We must appreciate agent Staggs point of view as much as I like brandy, and welshboy likes vodka ,its all a matter of personal perspective .If we all enjoyed the same thing ,life here on AJB would get very boring indeed . We would be no better than communist party officials in China waving little red books ,quoting words of wisdom from chairman Mao :)But nether the less good points agent Stagg

No, he doesn't- nor does anyone else here.

As always shaken says, we all have our points of view. We are supposed to express them.
As stag says, this is a discussion board. We are supposed to discuss our thoughts.
As the rules say, express and discuss these politely and civilly.

& nor should it. I am pleased that you enjoy them. As for me I really hoped Spectre would have been the film but I guess I was hoping for too much. As I pointed out in other posts, nothing to do with DC or other cast members but everything to do with poor & unoriginal writing.

Midnights past my bedtime! It surprises me how personal some of these posts can get. Surely as Bond fans from wildly varying demographics it's expected opinions will be equally varied? Is that not the point of open discussion? I'm secure in my own opinions and value those of others. Stag has posted nothing offensive or inflammatory. And as always shaken points out he likes brandy and Welshboy likes vodka I'd like to add I like jack Daniels...... You see varied. :D

I've a been a JB fan since I was a young child. Had many good times watching Bond movies with my dad.
But it seems its all gone downhill since DAD and since DC has played the character.

CR was good, and SF was OK, but where they really Bond films.....or just films?

I saw SP only the other day (after it came out on BluRay here in AUS).....and boy was I disappointed.
Having purposely avoided watching it in the cinema when it first came out, I thought I'd get some public feedback first so I can adjust my expectations. I actively checked this site and generally got positive reviews which I now know where more biased opinions than anything else.

The franchise had it all in front of them and they completely missed the mark with this one. *Apologies for being blunt*
The cast, the title song, the plot, the connection with previous links (CR, QOS, SF), was just a mistake after mistake. Seemed all rushed to me..

Lets hope they get a new Bond actor, some script writers and take their time with the next one (2 years isn't a mandatory timeframe you know), coz they are starting to lose even the avid Bond fans.....

    Welcome SMERSH,
my take is that after Tim, they decided to go full-on cinematic (as opposed to Fleming) Bond. So as long as they're fun, I'm in.
    And SPECTRE was fun IMHO.

Hello SMERSH & welcome to the forum.

I agree with your comments however I feel the blame lays squarely with the writing (then the direction BB has chosen to steer the franchise) While DC is not my favourite Bond IMHO he could have been so much better had he some solid material to work with. I was hoping that SP would have rectified the earlier difficulties but sadly I was wrong.
  • stagstag Posts: 2,083MI6 Agent
Oh & yes IMO the title song was among the worst of the franchise!
