Magnoli Spectre Ties

Not sure how many ties from Spectre we'll be doing as most seem very simple, so there should be plenty of budget alternatives. But, we are doing the two-tone knit tie... here's our initial prototype:

Grenadine%20Knit%20Tie%20sample-WIP2_zpswvg4ntbp.jpg

It's 100% woven silk, two tone brown with reinforced neck. Probably will be ready by early February.

Kind regards,
Magnoli

The square tip needs to be the lighter brown and the silk band should be on the darker side. :007)

Looking forward to it Indy! :)

I've no chance of owning the original tie so this will be ideal.

Looking forward to the finished product Indy, as I'm sure are a lot of other AJB'ers :D

Still trying to find a good alternative to the BC linen jacket, without having to pay BC prices though.

The tie is double sided (one side is the lighter brown, the other side is the darker brown). The original TF tie we have has the reinforced neck on the lighter brown side. Here is another shot of our prototype:

So it will be a truly reversible tie?
  • Indy MagnoliIndy Magnoli Somewhere in the PacificPosts: 419MI6 Agent
Yes, we're going to have our label on the neck part, so the tie can be worn either way.

Hi Indy - I bought three of your JB ties this time last year and loved the quality and colour of them. My only slight concern was, as somebody who is 6'2 tall, they only touched the top of my belt if the other end was extremely short. I would love to purchase the new tie, but am concerned that with the banded neck I wouldn't be able to achieve the length I need.

Can you either confirm the length of the tie so I can measure against ties I know are long enough - or would you consider making a longer version of it? I know I would be prepared to pay extra for the longer length.

Apart from that, I'd give the highest recommnedation for the quality of your work to anybody who was hesitating buying. In fact, I'm just off to order the Spectre mock turtle neck and the blue Cocktail shirt!
    Yes. Considerably.

The front of the tie measures about 27"/69cm from tip to where the reinforced neck starts. Part of this length should make up the knot, so hopefully this will work for you.

Thanks for the info Indy - that is most helpful! :)

Bond wears the tie quite short in the movie ... So it should be fine and SA :)

What will be the price of the tie? Timeframe until available?
  • Indy MagnoliIndy Magnoli Somewhere in the PacificPosts: 419MI6 Agent
Price point should be as most of our ties (around $60 shipped). These will probably be shipping in early to mid February.

No, not yet. I'll post as soon as they are ready. Shouldn't be much longer...

Given that you are making the tie, do you have any plans to make a replica of the BC jacket he wears with the tie. I know I would jump on a jacket replica as there are great frugal options for the pants, shoes, the shirt, and now your tie. If so, what would be the price range? Thanks Magnoli.

We could do the blazer for $395 (shipped), completely made-to-measure.
  • AKVAKV Posts: 125MI6 Agent
What material would the blazer be composed of? I believe the BC one is 51% wool, 41% linen and 8% silk (as per Matt's website).
  • Indy MagnoliIndy Magnoli Somewhere in the PacificPosts: 419MI6 Agent
Most likely we'd use a lightweight wool blend (around 85% wool, 15% synthetic), but if you wanted to source something more similar to the original, we could see what we can find. The price would likely be another $100-$150 if we do find a closer match.

how close to the original colour can you get. would be interested in a jacket tie combo
  • Indy MagnoliIndy Magnoli Somewhere in the PacificPosts: 419MI6 Agent
We should be able to get pretty close as it's not an uncommon shade.
  • NikoNiko Posts: 73MI6 Agent
I'd also be interested in a version of the jacket as well Indy.

Indy, would be interesting if you did a package discount deal as you did with the Skyfall glasses and a free tie.. Morocco blazer, shirt and tie deal ? Possible ? :D

I second that. I'd definitely be interested in a package with the three!

Yes, absolutely possible. We're working on a new website that will have a lot more in the way of packaged deals. Until then, simply e-mail us directly and we'll work out the best pricing for you.

The factory is proving problematic with this tie. They had no trouble doing the sample, but having issues producing a full run of the two-toned knit tie. We're still working on it with them, but this looks like it'll be delayed further, unfortunately.

Also, for those interested in the entire Morocco outfit, we can source the correct color cotton for the trousers.

I'd simply be happy with single toned knit tie that's the same colour as you see out on screen.

But a entire Morocco outfit pack, that would be excellent! And you can get the correct colour for the trousers, also excellent! The BC chinos have proved to be a bit difficult to distinguish colour wise.

We'll keep moving forward with the two-tone tie and, if it really is impossible, we may proceed with just the dark brown version.

Magnoli, have you thought about making shoe laces for the Aldo alternatives of the JCrew Kenton's? As far as I am concerned, there is not a decent shoe lace option that matches the JCrew Kenton's on the market. Would be very interested in buying that because I the shoe laces make the boot in my opinion.
