Which 'budget' Bond car would you choose from?

Whilst an Aston Martin would be nice, it's still a way off for many of us I imagine.

So to keep a Bond theme until that day, which of the 'budget' cars that have been driven in the films would you choose and why?

As a prompt, we've seen Craig's Bond in the likes of a Ford Mondeo, Ka and Kuga, a Volvo S40 and chased by an Alfa Romeo 159 to name just a few.

It's a Mondeo I have, since a DB5 is slightly outside my price range.

Edit: A recent pic of it in this thread https://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/43943/the-silencer-and-bra-strap/page/274/ - two, to be exact. Rather covered by snow, but you know what one looks like.

Alfa gtv6 from octopussy or the Alfa 159 Ti from quantum of Solace, I'm currently looking for a 159. Other than those two from my favourite car manufacturer, the bmws must be the best value bond cars.

I have a Nissan Micra ( one can be seen crossing the
Bridge in SF, before M's office explodes ) :D so it has
"Been" in a Bond, if not a Bond in it ;)
Although I too would go for a Mondeo. The Classic
Stag ( DAF) seems to be a reasonable buy for an
    Older classic sports car.

The triumph stag was featured on some car programme recently as "the most affordable bond car" they sound great too with v8.

    They cost a bloody fortune to repair and maintain...they are awesome though -{

I do love the 159 too - still looking good although with the potential for a lot bills I would think (fewer than a Stag though!)

Saab 9-3 in silver. Too bad they went out of business!

Just was about to mention Saab.

@nobody, is yours the 150 hp Saab Soft Turbo?
I‘ve had a 2005 9-3 for more than 10years and still regret selling it.

Would be the Saab 900 Turbo or Alfa Romeo GTV6 for me. Two seriously cool cars :007)

Well, it depends on your definition of budget.
You can get a rough example Mach 1 from 1971 for about 12k (or hunt in every American junkyard like a hawk, like the roadkill one) and have it as a project car but you could also get a S40 for about the same money.

That said, I'd choose a Mach 1 as a project car, maybe a Bug (Blue OHMSS version) for extra hipster points as it is basically a 911 (kidding) or a Mini (stock car racing, OHMSS), the BMW 740iL (it was rebadged as a 750iL) if we're talking about sedans (on the topic of Bimmers, the Z3 was a joke. He might as well had a M3 Convertible) though the right S40 would also be nice.

How about the Fiat 500 that was seen in SPECTRE?
    No takers? :D

TP, we used to have a Micra, damned thing was in the shop every other day.
It was a England-made one {:) as opposed to the Japanese made ones on higher trim levels. I guess my dad's '92 E36 Sedan kind of counts as a Bond car as it was seen in the parking lot and during Bond's escape from the print works in TND.

The 159 wouldn't bring many bills, they are in reality very reliable and well built.

It is a 2008 2.0 Turbo. has great punch, and the turbo seals it. Also handles great in the snow. Alas, I am no longer driving it- I passed it along to the kids. Now driving a very similar 2010 9-3 in black.

I had two Saab 900 Turbos (proper 80s/early 90s ones; nothing GM) and they were great- loved those things.
I guess if you want a real bona fide Bond car a BMW Z3 or late 90s 7 Series will cost you almost nothing now. You could go for an Audi 200 from Living Daylights, but I think they're rather tricky to find now. Maybe a Jaguar XKR from Die Another Day? The Volvo S40 Dufus mentioned is pretty cool, I think.

It was his favourite Bond car after all... :))

Quite sure a Vespa makes more power than a 2CV and doesn't make you look like a complete, utter bonehead madman for spending money... on a 2CV.

A thought: it's never appeared in a Bond film as far as I'm concerned but a grey/white Nissan S30 240Z would make for a decent DB5/2000GT alternative. It's an attractive (though that's completely subjective), classic sports car at a comparatively low price.

The 240Z is indeed a classic - haven’t seen one about for years.

The Jag XJR is also anlovley looking car (subjective I know).

I think the good old Mondeo may serve well (a Bond car for a family of five - rules out so many others!))

Yup, love a Saab; has one as a company car ages ago and it was a blast. Saab’s demise was a sad day.

Bond commandeered ( ;) ) a Bronco II in QoS.
    i203070.jpg
I guess that sort of counts.

Oddly enough an 8 Series appeared in TND, which makes for 2 BMW V12s in the same movie.

Considering how bankrupt you can become from owning one of these, I'd veer away from it, no matter how sweet owning a V12 for at most 10k must feel like.

    Bronco 2 - nice one!

I guess you could also include older Range Rovers as he's driven about in a few.

It may just be me but I've never really been a BMW fan and I didn't like that particular product placement.

I remember once my Brother's Saab 900 rolled down the small hill outside our house. It hit a perimeter wall !
The wall fell down, ...... The Saab was unscathed ! :D
