Topic: Aftershave and cologne advice

Given how many members on AJB know about fashion, and
Men's grooming.  I was hoping for a few tips on aftershave.
Something not too expensive, one for working hours and
One for nights out etc ? Perhaps one expensive one for
Special occasions, or when I get lucky  ajb007/biggrin

I have used the 007 range for ages but fancy a change, I have
Recently tried David Beckham's  " Beyond "  which I did like, not
Overly strong, and not too sweet smelling.

Re: Aftershave and cologne advice

I use a few from Tom Ford tabbacco vanille being my favourite, but that's more a winter one, along with oud wood and noir de noir. For warmer weather I use neroli portofino. As these are pricey I use izzy miyaki as a daily, it's light and fresh and not expensive, I also wear paco rabanne millons for daily evening. The Tom ford scents I save for occasions and they last me for years.

Re: Aftershave and cologne advice

Thanks Chris, I'm hoping to try a few over the coming weeks.
To try and get one everyday scent and One for  relaxation.
I have been told that Armani code  is a good standard  ?

Re: Aftershave and cologne advice

I like the DKNY range, which I've been using because I thought they didn't test on animals. Now they say they test on animals when required by law, which is disappointing.

I used to be a big fan of armani aftershaves, but I've not sampled code. But I've never disliked any armani scent.
Of course scents smell different on different people and to different people, I like a touch of bergemot and citrus in scents for the summer, where as tong bean, tabbacco and vanilla floats my boat for autumn winter.

I am a huge fan of Flouris no. 89 for daily wear (on men, not me.)

I've always wanted to have Christmas in Turkey

That’s the first woman that I’ve seen that likes #89, most say it smells like old mans cologne.  Although they have changed it a few years back.  I use JF, I switched to Elite in 99, then back to JF until about 2004 and used Santal until 2012.  Back on JF.

Actually, I like when my husband uses Floris #89  ajb007/lol  I bought his cologne back in 2014, I don't have an older one, so I can't compare. But, I think with all cologne (and perfumes) it depends on your body chemistry as the same fragrance won't smell the same on each person.

Re: Aftershave and cologne advice

They could call it Floris OF&U, I can just see the marketing guys getting their teeth into the campaign now  ajb007/biggrin

TP we all have totally different tastes. Best thing is to try loads, try a different one every day. Bear in mind each scent changes when it’s in your skin and changes again after a short period of time so you have to give it a while. I would hesitate before recommending Minigeff’s eau de cologne of choices though  ajb007/amazed

Re: Aftershave and cologne advice

I'm a big Jo Malone fan , for everyday use they seem to cover all bases , and also Jo didn't live far from me in her early days so I like to buy her smellies, Their gift wrapping is superb , but I have a selection of Dunhill and Tom Ford and Mont Blanc ( I like their bottles) but my all time favourite bottle design and content is Trumpers Marlborough

By the way, did I tell you,  I was       "Mad"?

Re: Aftershave and cologne advice

I've been using Nautica Voyage for the last few years. It's not too expensive, it smells good, and the ladies seem to like it.
