Even though clever I think anyone who spent 2 years building the partworks DB5 may agree that it cannot be beaten and certainly not by something which is not DB5 shaped ...nice try Lego!

Why do EON only ever exhibit/auction the fibreglass SKYfall lodge signs? the screen prop is grey polyurethane to simulate stone!

I am disappointed in the design -- should have been much larger to possibly better capture the car's contours; look at the new Bugatti kit -- but I expect LEGO did a fair amount of analysis on price point, part count, etc. to arrive at this. Aston Martin may also have had some say; even though this is a thoroughly different animal to die-cast, I know licensors try to not to issue too many products in the same scale.

Wouldn't be surprised if the sign came from PropShop and not EON as I believe they did the castings.

The rest was a mish-mash of studio and replica.

Re: James Bond Lego, what could it be?

Propshop made the originals, another company made the fibreglass copies for charity events and for some cast members.  Only Craig and Mendes got the original production made polyurethane resin grey versions.  And only 8 of those were made.

I hope the final version will look more like a DB5

This is the final version. Personally, I don't mind it too much. I didn't realize legos were taken so seriously until this Bond thing came out. It is getting a ton of hate. I thought legos were supposed to look like you know "legos" and the realism is for the high end replicas.

Maybe Lego could have made it have the curves of the DB5 while maintaining the gadgets? I'm not an expert.

Sure wish LEGO had a Bond license.

Re: James Bond Lego, what could it be?

I’m not sure it’s hate that we’re seeing, it’s more disappointment that it’s come this far but a couple of basic things, such as the curve of the roof, look like they could easily have got right with a bit more effort. Some elements are really clever but overall it’s just a wee bit off.

Check Facebook: Ya, it's hate alright.

Again, I think if it were larger it would have allowed for more curves, angles, etc. However, I expect that LEGO looked at the $100K -- probably more -- they paid in licensing fees to EON & AM and said, "okay, in order to defray that cost, we've got to sell X units which will only happen at price point Y meaning the set can't exceed part count Z."

Mmmm ... Volvo did also give us the P1800 (and particularly the ES edition) so they can do cool body lines.

I’ve just ordered this online and I was wondering if anyone who’s built one could give me an idea of the amount of time it takes to build please?

Re: James Bond Lego, what could it be?

I was given this as a birthday present last week from my ‘Lego mad grandson’s’.

It’s not something I would have bought myself, the kit comes in four build segments with over 1,200 pieces in total and I must say whoever designed this kit is a genius.

The box states it is for the ‘Expert’ Lego builder, and as I have never really built anything in Lego before I did find identifying the parts a bit difficult at first, but thankfully the instructions are very concise and after a while I really got in the swing of putting it together.

So far I have just completed the first build segment, which has taken about 4 hours.

I will post further pictures as the build progresses.  ajb007/martini

Nice one,  I spend a considerable amount of time building lego batman things for my 4 year old boy, not sure I'd attempt this tbh, so good on you.

It was either that.....or the priesthood

Very cool.  Mine is still unbuilt (various reasons) but I'm itching to get to it soon.

Re: James Bond Lego, what could it be?

Got mine last week for my birthday and spent a little over 5 hours building parts 1 & 2, which takes you up to page 90 of the instruction manual! I listened to Goldfinger and Skyfall as I worked. Here's hoping I find the time soon to complete it!
