So, long story but i missed out on this piece when it first came up. And when a US member recently posted on here with one to sell via Ebay, I mentioned if he was UK based I would snap his hand off. But too risky to gamble on the shipping (had bad experiences whilst shipping very rare signed motorsport prints, arriving shattered and the prints shredded)...
And then a whatsapp appears from my old friend in California, "Ive got one if you want it, presumed you would already have it!"
It was deframed, tubed and posted. Arrived 3 days later. Exorbitantly priced vintage hardware purchased, reframed and voila !
But I was thinking about the back story to this. And actually more so about the friends you make on this forum. Friends Ive not met in person but I actually know more about than some of my friends I see every week for golf / beers / parps out etc...
Steve, Paul, Ross, Greg, Jordan, Mike...... the list would go on.
So Steve and I first linked up during the filming of Spectre, I was away from home as my newly born son had some pretty severe health issues that meant we lived away from home in hospital for 3 months, and as such Id missed the chance to snap up the "on sale" JV jacket...
After a post begging for help I heard from Steve as he had found a couple. Despite the chance to bang them through flebay for silly money he offered me the spare at the sale price (something low like $299).
Since then we have helped each other out with various items. HMRC must be very suspicious as they see Lunch boxes / tea bags / empty spirit bottles (which is great as I get to drink the contents before I ship them) / scarves etc whizzing out to the US...
Probably the high point was 2 grown men exchanging whatsapp pictures of various jackets on in the mirror, all whilst trying to decide the best TF Harrington size for each other one night !
Top bloke and good mate... One day Im sure we will meet when one of us is in the same continent...

Fantastic! Great story and thanks for sharing. I too feel as if I've legitimately made friends as a result of this site. It is interesting what brings "us" together at the end of the day. Great hobby. Oh, and love the print as well!
I really can't say enough good things about Mark or his very patient wife.
I've always wondered what the local post office clerks think about all ties, cardigans, and boots that went to the UK.
BTW, the print looks so much better in your frame than what I had it in.
Okay, now I've been convinced that I need one of these as well... well...friends? Seriously though. If there is a line on one...pm me!
