DB5 tax discs?

Hi fellas, I'm trying to identify what these two discs are on the Goldfinger DB5, as I want to add them to the Eaglemoss DB5 model.

The upper one is obviously the 1965 tax disc, but I'm not sure on the second... anyone know for sure?

Maybe it‘s a sort of driving permit for foreign (european maybe even Switzerland) countries?!

I think it’s more likely it’s either a permit holder for an earlier tax disc or a parking permit. The dimensions are not quite as large as the tax disc, but it could be the back of the holder stuck to the windscreen. More recent cars (before online tax) often had a second sticker which had manufacturers’ emergency/accident contact details, or parking permits.

I’ve been trying to google image but haven’t come up with anything yet.

I’ve spoken to a few of older friends and no one can remember a disc like that other than perhaps a parking permit for someone. I did wonder if it was one to get onto the studio lot? But that’s a guess unless anyone knows about such things?

Only an uneducated guess from myself but could it be a
Pass to load his car on to the next flight ?

You'd expect the tax disc to be in the most unobtrusive spot so as not to obstruct vision. Typically they were bottom left corner of the windscreen. In this photo however it's above the other permit, which would suggest the latter permit is a permanent fixture on the car - so I'd doubt it was just for his trip on the plane... ?:)

Did a bit of research ( watched Goldfinger again ) and the tax disc
Does change position in various scenes.
I'm guessing the film makers didn't expect a load of Bond nuts to

Maybe it is a permit to take a car overseas then? Or is it because there would (I assume) have been two cars: one DB5 to drive and one with the gadgets?

There were 2 DB5s used: The DP Prototype car was the one with the gadgets, and the 2 discs on the windscreen. It also has the amber side marker lamps, Lucas L773s. That is the car that disappeared mysteriously. It had a David Brown 4 speed gearbox, with the little red button that you should not press, Grey interior. Was originally painted in Dubonnet Rosso, and was used in several publications for road tests, and also appeared in a Saint episode.
Was then used by Eon, and modified by Stears, Luxford, and co. Sprayed in Silver Birch for filming.
The other car, with no gadgets, and a mock up front number plate housing to match the effects car, had the later ZF 5 speed gearbox, and was originally a Silver Birch car. This car had gearbox problems in Switzerland, so the effects car was used in the Mustang chase scenes. That car was very heavy with all of the hydraulic paraphernalia, and that is why you hear it shift at a low rpm in the early part of the chase scene. Car didn't sound very good in Switzerland. Probably the SU carbs needed a re-jet for that altitude.
Dealers in the olden days had their own service decals which were sometimes placed on the windscreen, prior to the tax discs being fitted.
Can anyone blow up a blue-ray shot and get a definitive photo?
One of the OHMSS DBS cars also had another decal on the windscreen, probably an HR Owen marking, or similar.

Good info there Tom!

I’ve no idea what the smaller disc is. I suspect, as others have said, possibly a parking permit or an aircraft loading permit.
I had thought that it might be an Aston Martin Works sticker as I had one of those on my Aston, placed in the same location but they are a different design (and green) so don’t match.

As an aside however, while searching, I found this site which offers replica vintage tax discs...

I should add that I’ve not tried ordering from this site. Older discs would also have had the details completed by hand. Not a bad addition to a collection for £3.99!
