What about Elodie Yung (born February 22 1981)

    Elodie-Yung.jpg

She is half French/ Cambodian, has a Black Belt in Karate and is no stranger to the film world. She even appeared in a small part in the English language remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo opposite Daniel Craig.

This would make a great bond song IMHO
It was either that.....or the priesthood

Everyone has their favorites.....but a band or artist who is more of a regional success isn't going to get the Bond theme gig. Now that doesn't mean said regional artist is not up to the task, the best fit or not more talented than the "big" names, it's just that the Bond theme artist has become as much of a business decision as an artistic one.

She’s also great in the Daredevil series on Netflix.

Don't know anything about her music career, I would agree 100% that she would be an outstanding choice to be in a Bond film.
She was really good as Electra....which almost seemed like a comic book / superhero version of a Bond woman.

@ HowardB, She is not a singer, only an actress. I don't follow the music world all that closely so I have no idea who would be a good fit for singing the movies theme song.

I’ve been in the Michael Bublé camp for a while, but for a female artist I’d love for Haley Reinhart from PMJ to do the theme

I thought NME was a reputable music industry publication, and their story does at least say they contacted Dua Lipa's representatives, but this is still basically a rehash of the 8 March Sassilive story, a month later!

Always rumors regarding theme artists but crickets when it comes to who will do the score.

Yea, I guess they have lots of time on their hands since Buddy Holly died.

I guess a composer could come on board as late as post production but my guess is they probably have someone but EON is keeping everything on ultimate radio silence lock down mode since getting burned on SPECTRE.

Lady Gaga would make an amazing song....

We were saying elsewhere that Danger Mouse might be rather good casting for producing a Bond song; John Grant would be a great voice for one too.

The idea of pop people like Gaga doesn’t really interest me much. Hopefully they might at least go towards someone like Janelle Monáe or someone. Someone with a bit more edge.

Yeah, I’m not a massive fan but I wouldn’t hate that. He could do something interesting.

I would love London Grammar to get the theme gig... They do some stunning stuff, and the lead singer Hannah Reid has a beautiful voice, with amazing range.... very atmospheric stuff that I can imagine working well given a Bondian touch. They may not have the international exposure EON look for however.

Lady Gaga would make an amazing song....

I’ve lately come to appreciate Gaga, after seeing A Star is Born...and the documentary about her, Five Foot Two. I’d enjoy her take on the Bond motif.

I'm going to put a vote in for Lewis Capaldi doing the theme tune. Love the sound of his singing voice.

I would love this to happen. I fear we will get another dirge from some B list no mark though. Something with the energy of a modern LALD would be as the young people I think have it 'Dope'

Gaga has the voice to make a Bond song shine. And her duet record with Tony Bennett shows she has a taste for the classics...

Would depend on whether she would be open to working with the score composer (I feel the music on Bond works best when the theme song is one of the motifs in the score).

IMO, she could do a great job and I would guess she would probably be ok working with the score composer.

Just out of interest Z99, which artists that have performed the song do you regard as 'B list no marks'? I may not be a huge fan of every single offering we've had over the 24 films but I struggle to think many artists are actually B listers. Some not obvious or correct choices and/or with sub-standard Bond songs perhaps but not B list no marks artists, surely?

Agree Lady Gaga would be a good choice and anything remotely like LALD would get my vote!. Personally, would love to see Noel Gallagher have a go, but can't see that happening.

For a lack of any other ideas at this point, a clue to who might be the theme artist could be finding out what artists or bands that director Cary Fukunaga is a fans of....just a shot in the dark.

I think Rita Coolidge is the most baffling.

does B-list mean fame or talent?
Rita Coolidge was a somebody, but I think better known as a back-up singer and for her involvement with more famous boyfriends.
A lot of these performers may seem more obscure as time moves along
for example I have no idea who Matt Monroe, Lulu or A-ha are
and I'm not sure Shirley Bassey was much of a somebody before she was asked to sing Goldfinger. Wikipedia shows she had been recording for almost a decade, but I think her reputation in the longrun is based on performing that one song at the height of Bondmania.

Coolidge, apart from Kris Kristofferson had four consecutive top 25 hits in the late 70's. Re Lulu, in the US she probably is seen as a 60's one hit wonder with "To Sir With Love" but in the UK she was a big star. A-ha were a pop flavour of the month and had a #1 album in England (#15 in the US). Shirley Bassey was a recording star in the UK since the late 50's and later had crossover success in the US. We of course know her for the great Bond themes she performed but she had #1 and top 25 hits prior to Goldfinger. She was also a hugely popular live entertainer. Matt Monroe was big in England and Europe in the 50's and 60's. He was more of a remnant of the big band era Sinatra style of pop singer.
