Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool were made for each other. I love Klopp.

It goes to show what happens when you allow the manager to actually build a team instead of firing after losing two games.

Pity those supporters couldn't have shown a bit of class and decorum in Barcelona just because they lost. One can only hope Spurs can do the right thing and win!

    A) that incident happened before the match even took place - there was zero trouble post match & the atmosphere / friendship between the 2 clubs was there to see on tuesday night at the final whistle.
B] it was a couple of idiots who let the fanbase down ... but let's just tar the entire club with the same brush 8-)
    C) the perpetrators have been rghtly vilified by the club & other fans across all sorts of social media & other platforms, but it clearly doesn't fit in certain agendas to mention this. Fans actually identified & named the idiot who did it.

After 2 brilliant semi finals, let's just hope that the final is a cracker with attacking football played ... and with a Liverpool win {[]

On a similar subject......... A young chap has recently started working with me. He's
of Pakistani Muslim and Indian Christian background and about 21. One day we had a
deep discussion about the world and our lives, and I was shocked at the amout of Bullying,
and racism he had had to put up with. The world is full of some very nasty people.

Here are 17 suggestions from architects for the roof and central tower of Notre Dame. I would like to see a conservative "re-make".
The church has burned or been rebuildt several times in the past, so after some doubt favour changing it a litttle to reflect the fact that it's a rebuild. A glass roof with a greenhouse under or made of stained glass would be nice, but I would like the center tower to look a lot like the one that was destroyed during the fire. That way the outline of the church won't change. What do you think?

The last suggestion has to be seen to be believed …..

I'm a fan of modern architecture and would hope they'd go
With a new design but still keeping as much of the old as
    Possible.

I think the tower that was destroyed should once again represent the crown of thorns, for the roof I think stained glass sounds good, I wonder if they could do stained glass solar panels? Never the less I would like some eco features added that are imperceptible and don't ruin the history and architecture of Notre damme
It was either that.....or the priesthood
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 21,699MI6 Agent
There were some good eco ideas. The attic of the roof that burned down was called "the forrest" because of all the old wooden beams. Making the area a green house is a good echo of that. At least one architect suggested leaving the attic greenhouse open to the public, this way people can enjoy the trees and plants in the middle of the city and also enjoy the view. The new opera in Oslo has a roof that's buildt for people to walk on to. This is a very popular feauture and also members of the public who don't listen to opera like visiting the roof. Many bees lived on the roof and towers of the Notre Dame. Historically the honey was distruted among he poor. One architect suggested accomodateing the tower for bees and their nests. Since many worry about the population of bees globaly getting smaller, this will be a feature that points back and forward in time. I think my favourite is the first suggestion, but with a greenhouse. It's the same building, but modernized. In some of the other suggestions the roof and tower don't look like they belong to the rest of the church.

We bought a second home up in the hillside on Cebu recently and Mrs CHB has left it to me to furnish so I’ve been busy getting furniture etc. I’m transferring my man cave from Mactan to the new house as I can have a bigger room for it and I found this yesterday. It’s a magazine that my dad bought me in 1964 and it’s still in almost new condition (I always bag and board paper goods to lessen the ageing effects). It’s called Bond In Focus and has some really good pictures and some basic text. The covers and a few internal pages are below.

Queues on Everest! So I'll assume those were all British climbers
    "after you old boy"
    "are you sure?"
    "I insist you summit first"
"jolly decent of you old chum"
Only to find some German climber went to the summit in the middle of the night and put his beach towel down on it!

Seriously though this is ridiculous and added another 3 dead bodies on Everest, they died waiting in line to get to the summit.

I am sure that everybody has seen the pics from the human traffic line on Mt. Everest.

I‘ve read an interesting interview with a German tour operator, who is organizing Mt. Everest trips and was summiting in 2017 for the last time.

He says, that there are several reasons for these congestions:

    1. He says, there are too many people there who should not be there.
He says, that he has seen people who could not put on their boots without the help of their Sherpas. This year, there was a pic of someone who put on his helmet the wrong way round.
He says, that these people are holding off all others then on the top.

    2. He says that most of the expeditions save money on weather data. They all rely on the same sources and watch each other and so, if the weather is good, everybody goes up at the same time.
He pays a lot of money on alternative weather data and he has been alone on the summit for one hour in 2017.

    3. He has stopped doing tours on the South Col because there are too many people on that route.
He‘s now using the more difficult but less crowded North Col Route.

He also told the story of 2 Drs who approached him after summiting Kilimanjaro. They wanted to summit Mt. Everest. He told them that they will need 3-4 years of preparations but they wanted to do in 1 year.
They booked with another company and one of them died last year on Everest.

People should be required to take physical tests and document mountaineering experience before being eligble to climb the Everest. Then there should be some kind of lottery to limit the numbers even further. Nowadays it looks like too may are millionaires past their prime who wants to prove their manhood.

I watched the programme were Ant Middleton, the SBS guy, did Everest and he nearly got himself in a whole heap of trouble because they got stuck behind someone who was struggling. You can't move past someone who isn't moving.

He was very angry at the amount of people allowed to climb and bitterly complained that people were not prepared for it and weren't fit enough. Ben Fogle wrote an article saying the same thing.
