Thought Bond’s formal, top-hat-and-tails wedding gear in the PTS still seemed a bit Roger Moore-ish.
I wish he wore something Roger Moore-ish for the wedding. Roger Moore did morning dress in A View to a Kill, and it didn't look like a costume on him. What Bond (and Leiter and Sharkey) wear for the wedding is 1980s hired American wedding costume. It completely fits the setting of a 1989 American wedding, but it stands out in a film full of horrible clothes. Thankfully Roger Moore had the sense to never dress this horribly.

I always hated the morning coat wedding attire Leiter, Bond and ? wear at the beginning of the movie. They look like the Mr. Tux "rent two, get groom's tux free" special, instead of formal wear worthy of agent 007...

This is spot on. As much as I hate wedding attire trends in the US now, bad wedding attire goes back a long time, about 50 years.

Yeah, the morning suit is defiantly not one of the better outfits James Bond has worn on film.
I read a while back in 007 magazine that LTK costume designer Jodie Tillen (fresh off her five year run as costume designer on Miami Vice) wanted Timothy Dalton to wear pastels. Thankfully Dalton vetoed this idea with support from Albert R. Broccoli.
This one seems to get better for me with each viewing.
My criticisms:
- Sanchez is too much of a derivative gangster-type character.
- The Stinger-missiles subplot involving Hiller (hope I wrote that right) does lose me.
But other than that, this film is solid for me, really good stuff, and I give it 9/10.
