if she was in the film, was she supposed to be Mayday?
Mayday's dead in a flooded mineshaft of course, but that's the Moore-verse, so maybe there was going to also be a Mayday in the Craig-verse, just like Craig has his own Blofeld?

she could have been an allnew character of course, like Maud Adams played two characters in two films, but she's a little more recognisable than Maud Adams ... I think she would have been percieved as Mayday whatever they named her character

Think so far the whole Grace Jones cameo is all just media speculation

Ive even read she was doing the Bond 25 theme song

I agree. I think that the whole story was made up. They made up a silly story about her being in Bond 25 and made up another silly story about why she's not going to be in the film.

Re: Craig is back: Discuss Bond 25 here

Grace Jones as far I'm concerned is a completely inconsequential non-story. Even if it is true and she had a small cameo in Bond 25 and walked off the set , it was just another cheap pathetic attempt at self promotion on her part (Jones has always been a smart self promoter and she figured the Tabs would be all over it). Sure, it might have been a neat little gimmick to have the exotic and strangely quirky Jones, a native of Jamaica and Bond alumni do a cameo but beyond that, who cares?

Re: Craig is back: Discuss Bond 25 here

Oh the Jamaican thing didn't occur to me; I guess it makes a little more sense now.

I don't see how she could've come up with it.

I suppose it's possible. She actually made it out of the mineshaft before the "Thermos" detonator went off, and unless she disintegrated they never showed a body, so maybe she's just horribly burned.

Daniel Kleinnman is back to do the title sequence.

Good  ajb007/bond

What I really want to know now is the composer, title song artist and of course the title.

Re: Craig is back: Discuss Bond 25 here

Composer has already been confirmed as Dan Romer...

Re: Craig is back: Discuss Bond 25 here

Apparently there is a Bond25 press conference tomorrow. Seems a bit early for August filming?

"Friday 12 July press conference to present the organizational aspects for production"

It's not clear if this is simply local officials informing people of what is going to happen, what roads will be closed etc. or if anyone from EON or Universal Studios will be there.

I would say the 'organizational aspects for production' bit makes that fairly clear! ajb007/smile

I (obviously) missed that. I've been away lately, I hope that explains it. Thanks.  ajb007/smile

Trawling through Dan Romer's work, I am wondering if maybe the best soundtrack to indicate what we might get for Bond25 is actually for the video game, Far Cry 5.

I'm with you. Of all of Romer's work, I think this is the only thing close to the genre of Bond. Scores (particularly action scores) today have become driven by percussion and ambient sounds. It's music composed by a computer rather than by the mind or the heart. Hans Zimmer and his people have given mindless action films mindless action music. And when there is melody and harmony it's often folk-music based. That kind of thing doesn't work for Bond. That said, there is some good stuff in here; it's not all mindless.

Re: Craig is back: Discuss Bond 25 here

And I've just made it through 1 hour and 9 minutes of the Far Cry 5 soundtrack. I feel like since I've gotten this far I should try to finish it, but I really don't want to.

Re: Craig is back: Discuss Bond 25 here

Well, that's not promising.

6,071

Re: Craig is back: Discuss Bond 25 here

Romer's score for Beasts of No Nation shows much more promise than Far Cry 5. At least the Beasts of No Nation score was melodic and had some gravitas. Far Cry 5 just sounds like an awful hybrid of 80's synth driven scores and mindless action music. I hope this doesn't turn into another missed opportunity. This is a Bond score and hopefully Romer gets that and gives us something more like the Beasts score but with a classic Bond twist.

Re: Craig is back: Discuss Bond 25 here

Yeah I've not found anything to interest me in his work either.

Here is one track from B.O.N.N. They are all very much like this. Bond25 will have to have a very dark story IMHO for a soundtrack like this.

Re: Craig is back: Discuss Bond 25 here

A good soundtrack really improves the enjoyment of the film. I'll be miffed if we get something generic and unbondian. The current film world is littered with unimaginative, lazy, paint-by-numbers film scores. Fingers crossed we get something fitting and worthy of a Bond film.

Re: Craig is back: Discuss Bond 25 here

I'm a bit worried that Romer could be their first big misstep. That being said, much of Romer's work appears to have been for smaller, lower budget independent films and his only action film has been Beasts of No Nation. Synths are much cheaper than hiring an orchestra. May be Bond 25 is his opportunity to step up and take advantage of being a part of a big budget tent pole film. Romer will now pretty much have whatever he wants at his disposal, be it a full orchestra, etc. From what Romer has said, he appears to understand that there are certain parameters of doing a Bond score. If he can do something on the level of the Beasts score with a decent measure of Bond bombast and a good title song thrown into the mix, it could be good.
