Getting a Hannibal Lecter Clarice Starling (and Lex Luthor! :)) vibe from that, but we already had similar with M and Silva in SF. I'm not saying it wouldn't work and I'm not unhappy with Blofeld returning (if true), I love Waltz. Just hope it's done with some originality.

I get the feeling his scenes will be small but he was offered a tonne to return, so why wouldn't he.

If Rami Malek is his son, then we'll have another family reunion when he meets his 'Uncle' James.. :#

    All conjecture of course.

Please God no! Enough with the relatives!

At this rate Bond will find out he’s related to every girl he’s ever bedded and everyone is part of one big happy family...

It's scene 155, so three scenes after the scene 152 with the horseguards.

I wrote about that here; https://www.ajb007.co.uk/post/953034/#p953034
Scene 155, for Spectre was omitted, never filmed, but scene 152 was the establishing shot for the Centre for National Security building and comes in at 1 hour 52 minutes. It's where M challenges C with Q's help.

Casino's scene 152 is Bond staggering across the street to get to his Aston for the medical kit and 155 is a scene at MI6 with the doctors telling Bond what to do to counter the poison. 152 comes at 1 hour 35 minmutes and 155 at 1 hour 36 minutes.

So, the horsemen in the Mall, perhaps an establishing shot for Buckingham Palace, is perhaps between 1 hour 35 and 1 hour 50 minutes.

So, the Hammersmith scenes must come about one hour 45 minutes into the film. Finally we see Tanner, with M. It must be the day after the Whitehall meeting and Q visit as DC is now in a different outfit.

One wonders why he is meeting M the day after he met him in M's office? Is this part of the treachery? Did Leiter tell Bond about a traitor at MI6? Is M giving his approval to a rogue mission by Bond? I could imagine Bond going off to Norway after this meeting.

Not meaning to sound like I'm trying to needlessly argue but - they said "sources confirmed to Variety." I take that to mean they had someone outside of the Baz article confirm it to them. Not naming them would certainly be understandable...

No, they mention that the Daily Mail was the first to report it. Separately, they had their own sources confirm it for them. Variety is one of the most connected, respected entertainment sources around. They don't just reprint stuff they read on Twitter.

True but thought they might of broke story first if had inside info available since Blofelds return was half expected and it was common knowledge he was in London a few weeks ago (I mentioned here at the time)

Seriously not trying to argue lol just so much crap out there in the media.

On another note, our very own AJBer Simon (WhatsDanielwearing) who discovered and revealed the new “Joe” Sunglasses was mentioned on Esquire also the other day. No mention of Simon but I bet they saw Simons posts on Instagram which got shared / reposted thousands of times!!

Although oddly yesterday that article said ‘The Guardian were the first to report it’; they’ve changed it to the Mail now. Variety have been making a few slip-ups recently.

The local Matera government website has posted a report on the press conference with a picture.
    http://www.comune.matera.it/dal-comune-int/item/3820-i-sassi-seducono-bond-la-produzione-sbarca-a-matera-impatto-mediatico-ed-economico-da-capogiro

    The Google translation says:
12 million euros of investment in the city, about 100 accommodation facilities and 400 people working for the production that will be seen by over 150 million people in the world only in movie theaters, not counting the home cinema circuit and other distribution channels .
These are the numbers of Bond 25, the new 007 film that will be shot in Matera from mid-August for about 5 weeks. Filming will involve almost all of the Sassi who will be the absolute and sole protagonists of the adventures of the most important secret cinema agent.
This morning, in the Sala Mandela of the Municipality of Matera, the press conference to illustrate the technical-organizational aspects of production. In addition to the Mayor, the Councilor for Culture and the director of the cinema office of the Municipality of Matera, Raffaello De Ruggieri, Giampaolo D'Andrea and Ivan Moliterni, the director of the Lucania Film Commission, Paride Leporace, the production managers participated. for the scenes shot in Italy, Enzo Sisti, Robin Melville, Serena Peleggi and the Unit Production Manager, Matt Jones.

The 25th film in the 007 saga, probably the last one with Daniel Craig to play the role of the British secret agent, will be released in April 2020.
"We chose Matera because it is Matera," said Robin Melville. "The script called for shooting in Italy and we chose Matera because it is a unique city. If you know others like this, don't tell me, "he concluded ironically.
"I am appalled by what is about to happen," said the Mayor of Ruggieri. "It is an incredible opportunity for the city that will have an estimated economic impact in the order of a point of GDP of the entire Basilicata and difficult to calculate media value. 007 is the history of cinema. Few Italian cities have had the privilege of being immortalized in the films of this extraordinary saga of success and this testifies to the level of attractiveness and charm that Matera manages to exercise in the world ".
"I found a grown city - said Enzo Sisti - who worked as an executive producer in numerous films shot in the city. Matera has reached a quality in taste and a cultural dimension that until a few years ago I saw only in very few Italian realities. We expect this film to have a terribly favorable impact on the city. Bond films are seen all over the world and the media showcase will be huge ”.
"Not only economic and media growth - underlined Paride Leporace - but for the whole film sector and for the creative scene in Basilicata".
"Being a large-scale production it is inevitable that it will not be invisible - highlighted Ivan Moliterni -. A process of participation and involvement of the community is underway which will allow us to bring out the opportunities and values offered by this film above all ”.
"Such an opportunity - concluded the Mayor of Ruggieri - cannot be debased by controversy over the parking or temporary accessibility of some places. We need to be aware of the extent of what is happening in cultural, social and economic terms ".

The only new fact in this is that the filming will last for five weeks, not four.

Now we know Blofeld is back, I have tweaked my Bond25 plot.
Just before they marry, Spectre attacks Bond and Madeleine. Bond kills the attackers leaving no leads, and Madeleine doesn't marry Bond. Years later, Bond is in Jamaica. Felix Leiter asks Bond to help him and his CIA colleague, played by Magnussen, to rescue a scientist. Bond 'goes rogue' with Leiter and they involve a young woman, Paloma. Magnussen betrays the mission, Paloma is killed along with Magnussen, while Lashana/007 saves Bond, but the mission fails. Leiter returns to CIA, Bond and 007 return to London. Bond meets M, offically the scientist mission ends here and 007 is redeployed. But, Moneypenny takes Bond to Q to analyse Bond's Cuba evidence. Bond meets M and Tanner secretly, giving them his evidence. Bond is given approval to unofficially continue the search. Imprisoned Blofeld, whose jailer is MI6 psychologist Madeleine Swann, is approached to help. Bond and Madeleine go to Norway to find the scientist. They find the villain's lair, either in Norway or Scotland, where the scientist is found. They destroy the lair, but the scientist dies, while Madeleine and Bond survive, and decide to marry after all.

    Im hoping this happens, i think it sounds a strong and plausible plot. Twists and turns and interesting and a little different to what many expect the running of the film to take. Although the same ingredients are there, i like the layout of this and hoping that itll happen this way. Time will tell but im enthusiastic and hopeful based off the above and hoping itll happen this way -{

I registered just to show my appreciation for your well thought out unemotional and non judgemental analysis. In my view you are correctly not getting side tracked by tactical level detail or the nuance of character but looking at the overall narrative and collecting the characters into clusters as to which act they appear in even if your prediction as to what happens to them is conjecture.

There are at least two really interesting transitions in this story which I suspect come from the five months Cary spent on writing before he announced Lea was returning.

    1) The transition from the PTS to Bond in Jamaica.

    2) Bond leaving London for the finale.

How Bond feels at the end of the PTS and why he is hell bent on leaving London alone at the end of the London element will be contained in what he found out and how he reacted giving Daniel plenty to get into.

I also think its encouraging that we have no idea really which side of the fence Billy and Lashina sit on whereas C's role in Spectre was transparent, not that I did not enjoy his obnoxious man with a clip board performance.

At some point I will stop reading your thoughtful analysis so I am not spoiled and just take it all in at a mid night performance at the BFI IMax.

I'm glad Blofeld is back. First of all the character deseves to be more than a one-movie villan. Second, Waltz is a great actor who deserves to re-visit Blofeld with a better script.

why he is hell bent on leaving London alone at the end of the London element...

How do you know he leaves London on his own?

Some of the Norway pictures show a man and a woman with dots on their face in the Aston Martin Vantage Volante. Digital face replacement for DC and Lea?

I agree, the PTS, Jamaica transition is going to be key.

Thanks for the correction. I have only seen footage of a camera helicopter filming the AM VV with Ben Collins driving alone with the face dot marking. The only footage I have seen with a man woman (and child whose dark hair is just visible in the still) is a large mustard coloured SUV chased by two modern SUV's. I had interpreted matters (wrongly) that Bond was being filmed A to B and the large mustard coloured SUV was probably a reaction to Bond's lone journey. The couple have been variously identified as Mr & Mrs White with child, Swann and BM's character but I have restricted my interpretation to what I considered Bonds lone journey in the vehicle we see him driving in the 140/150 scenes in London.

As an aside I think I would go with a cigar is a cigar and the mustard SUV is a genuine chase with Lea in the passenger seat with her double wearing a head scarf and large coat over Lea's costume ready for the shoot. There is another photo with the three cars parked and certainly the double looked in silhouette with her hair free much like Lea. But for me thats the kind of tactical understanding which doesn't affect your excellent strategic analysis and can wait for the movie.

All Someone's hypothetical plot points appear to be well thought out and plausible. Of course, we need to always keep in mind that some pretty good writers were involved in this script and we will probably get a curve ball or two thrown at us. I do wonder if EON would be willing to open up the can of worms of having someone other than Bond be 007....but then again, good writers could do something with it that could be entertaining and include a resolution that is satisfying to the audience.

Even if it was true, it probably was an inconsequential cameo and there's no reason to believe she was reprising her role from AVTAK anyway.

Lashana Lynch's Nomi as new 007 'confirmed' by UK tabloid Mail on Sunday.
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7244671/Thought-007-never-woman-black-shes-James-Bond-hand-number-over.html

The Mail story goes on to suggest that we see Nomi/007 early in the film. I guess that is before we see Bond in Jamaica.
A movie insider said: 'There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says 'Come in 007', and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman.

    And this might worry some;
'This is a Bond for the modern era who will appeal to a younger generation while sticking true to what we all expect in a Bond film,' the source added. 'There are spectacular chase sequences and fights, and Bond is still Bond but he's having to learn to deal with the world of #MeToo.'

And congrats to Revolver66 for being the first on this website to suggest Lashana is the new 007.
