Can the Next suit already be sold out? :o I get an "this website is no longer available".

They changed the URLs for the product pages! X-( I check all the links in the posts right before I publish them and everything was fine. So the change must of happened in the last 2 hours. But I've updated the post with the new links now. Thanks for letting me know! {[]

My size isn't there for the Next suit, but here's a tip for extra accuracy.

Take the spare button from the inside of the suit or pants (they should have one) and go to a tailor. Have them sew it on and sew a buttonhole with the finished side on the "wrong" side of the lapel roll.

Bang, instant faux three roll two!

    Timeyswirls with the style hacks! -{

I have new posts coming tomorrow and Sunday. But I wanted to share another idea.

I used to have a "Community Gallery" on the website where I'd share photos of people showing off their Bond looks (and various interpretations).

The software plugin that I used for that wasn't great and it was actually quite a bit of work to post the photos. But I still like the idea of a place where we can share those types of pics. Personally, I find them both inspiring and interesting and learned a lot about how different brands look IRL, how they fit, etc.

So I'm going to try something in the same vein on Instagram. Every Friday afternoon sharing photos on the IA account from others wearing their Bond gear. If someone wants their photo to be shared they just have to use the hashtag mybondstyle and/or tag @iconicalternatives in the original post.

This afternoon I'll post a couple of photos just to see how it goes and what the reaction is. What do you guys think?

    Have a great weekend!

Sunday post! Best Budget Finds for July

    https://www.iconicalternatives.com/2019/07/07/best-budget-style-finds-july/

There's a lot packed into this one, covering everything from tie clips to swimshorts. But the one I'm happiest about is probably these boots from Meermin:

    Meermin-101050-Chelseas-in-Dark-Brown-Calf.jpg

They've gone with a one-piece leather construction, just like the RMWs. And the price is $230, so literally half the price of the RMWs. I just thought that was very cool!

    Cheers all!

    Morning everyone!

New post: this one is more about men's style in general, but it uses Daniel Craig's style as a launching point for the discussion. More of "How To" guide.

Fun article. I can attest to the idea of building suspense over the course of a week...it's especially fun if you can come up with some clever clues as to where you're taking her or what you're going to do. Give her a clue each day and get her thinking.

    A clue each day is a great idea! Building the suspense is a lot of fun! -{

BTW, has anyone here found a good budget alternative for the tie bar seen in this picture?

I listed two in the July Best Budget Finds post (1 stainless steel and 1 silver). They have more of a matte/brushed finish and the ends are slightly more squared off.

    https://www.iconicalternatives.com/2019/07/07/best-budget-style-finds-july/

    This is one for $75
    Dreadnought-Workshop-Sterling-Silver-Tie-Bar.jpg

I know some people have been thinking it's a Douglas Pell tie slide, but to me the end of that one looks too rounded compared to what we see in the set photos. That's why I went with the more squared off versions

    Douglas Pell
    2_DP_1631.jpg

    Bond's
    Bond-25-glen-check-suit-pattern-close-up.jpg

The Pell one is only around $60, so if folks like that one it won't kill the wallet.

    https://www.silvergroves.co.uk/sterling-silver-plain-tie-slide

Tie Bar also has a couple of sterling silver options with the rounded end for $15 to $25

    https://www.thetiebar.com/product/C686

I'm still looking for one with the right finish and end shape.

I think these work as a budget alternative to the Barton Perreira 'Joe' sunglasses in terms of shape.

Persol PO3019S - Bond brand too.

DB6: I love Persol and have 4 pairs myself. So if you like them I'd say go for it. But if you're asking if they come close to the Joes, I think that silver arrow hinge is so distinctively a Persol "thing" that everyone is going to know exactly what they are. If you want a pair that comes closer to the looks of the Perreiras, maybe look at Ray Ban, since they have less noticeable branding. Just my 2 cents!

Anyone looking to update their QoS wardrobe - ASOS currently has the Selected Homme tapered jeans in ecru twill (a great alternative to the Levi's 306 Staprest) on sale at £38.50, good range of sizes available (except mine 8-) )

Link here: https://www.asos.com/selected-homme/selected-homme-tapered-jeans-in-ecru-twill-denim/prd/11343684 (ignore the fact it may come up as being in in UAE - I'm travelling with work again)

John: Re the Persols - I was only referring to the overall 'look' really as I agree, Persol's are clearly Persol's!

If anyone is after a pair of the sunglasses that DC wore to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone last weekend and doesn’t fancy paying approx £300 for them a good alternative is the Rayban Round 0RB3647N Sunglasses. Picked up a pair for £136 yesterday
  • canoe2canoe2 Posts: 2,007MI6 Agent
DB6: Ah, sorry. I misunderstood what you were asking.

    Martin Aston: nice find!

New Post! I had some behind the scenes technical issues this week but it looks like things are back to normal. Anyway, I put together a fast one: 007 Summer Style Extras:

Includes new alternatives for the Joe sunglasses and the Hackett jacket from the British Grand Prix! I also included some of the suggestions from here, with credit of course!

Tomorrow: The Man's Guide to Buying Lingerie!

And please: no jokes about the lingerie being for the new 007 ... :D

Hi - did anybody manage to pick up the Next suit alternative, for me the link sent straight to an error page so I am interested if this is just out of stock or if the link was faulty. If you did get the suit could you post the stock/model number so I can try and chase Next to see if they have any in the UK anywhere
    great

Just a thought, on the alternatives post for the Spectre watches the Seiko 5 SNZH57J1 is brought up.

Since it has gold details as opposed to more orange tinted ones and a normal dive bezel instead of the 12 hour markings, wouldn't it be a better option for the Bond 25 watch if you put a Milanese strap on it?
  • canoe2canoe2 Posts: 2,007MI6 Agent
explore007: I had to update all the links to the Next suit. But they were working last time I checked. Just FYI!

Timeyswirls: I think it could work for both! It's not an exact copy of the Spectre Omega. But that's kind of what I like about.

    New Post! Finally!!

The Men's Guide to Buying Lingerie!

    https://www.iconicalternatives.com/2019/07/19/guide-to-buying-lingerie/

I tried to make this a tasteful article and a true practical guide. But obviously, given the nature of the topic, there are some NSFW photos that I used. Nothing over the top, but I know some offices can be pretty strict about this kind of thing.

    Have a great Friday everyone!

"The Man's Guide to Buying Lingerie!", is a superb article on the Iconic Alternatives website.
It is very tastefully written and I am certain contains some of the most informative prose on the topic
to have ever been written specifically for men.
    Very well done, John!
