genoma is italian for genome not property, at least according to google translate

but you may be on to something Number24, very ripped-from-the-headlines.
Big Agriculture companies (eg Monsanto) patent genomes for their designer crops, then sue farmers who grow genetically identical crops without proof of purchase.

I wonder if Big Cloning could start suing humans for being born with DNA that's already been patented?

gun barrel sequence as usual, fade in on Jamaica.
Bond and Madeleine are living happily at last, having left the dirty damn business long behind them.

There is a knock on the door.
    Its an evil lawyer:
"your wife is hereby being sued for copyright violation on account of her DNA! ha-hoo-hah-hah-hahh!"

    Bond clenches his fist: "Blofeld!"

(at least it'd be a better plot than the fosterbrother conspiracy.)

who's going to come up with the theme song?

Should this movie feature human clones, I don‘t wanna hear anybody bad-mouthing Die Another Day ever again!....
The name is Walker by the way.

Check it out, you won’t be disappointed :)

Really hope they just call it The Property Of A Lady instead. It means (or can mean) exactly the same thing as Genome Of A Woman, AND is a Fleming title, AND sounds better, AND sounds more accessible to the general viewing public. I once read that DC doesn't like that title, so maybe it WAS the original title, but DC objected, and suggested this weird version of it instead? Just completely guessing of course, but please, The Property Of A Lady would be so much better, and would simultaneously tie up the loose end of using another unused Fleming title.

Well, it's not about me being on to something. It'a about a rumour Calvin Dyson reported. I wasn't suggesting genome means property in any language. I was more suggesting, in a badly worded way, that something like Genome of a Woman was a placeholder title or shooting title. Then Property of a Woman is hopefully the real title.

I als don't think the mentioned plot theory about the young girl being the DNA copy is nearly as far-fetched as DAD, but it's far from the style of CR. DAD featured people changing their look completely via DNA engineering during a short stay at a clinic. Getting a DNA sample from Madeleine and using that sample when impregnating some woman who gives birth to a copy of Madeleine is closer to current science.

The rumor is Genoma, not Genome.

Genome stands for Genetic Chromosome, and pertains to the entire makeup of one organism.
Genoma stands for Genetic Mass, which I assume means a strain of a genome that can be passed down from organism to organism however that works.

so you will be asking for a ticket to see 'Genetic Mass of a Woman'. The youtuber James Bond Show broke the story 2 days before Calvin, so he had the original source of the rumor.

This is an SJW rendition of Property of a Lady. Since:
    1) a woman's genes are her property, and
    2) the term Lady has been outlawed as sexist along with Bond Girl, it could be saying something P.C. like, 'My Body, my choice', which plays into Babs' promise that Bond will face the MeToo movement, and his sexual advances toward Nomi will be rejected.

It would also explain why they haven't revealed the title, because it's stupid.

The original source said that he wrote "Genoma" by mistake and it was actually "Genome". It just goes to show how twisted some of these rumours can get.

Given the Italian (and Jamaican) setting, this is an opportunity for Risico.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of terms related to blood or genetics that could be cobbled together for a title.

Now that we have a title, maybe we could rename this thread to future title ideas or something.

Obviously, yes you know it's coming, The Garden Of Death remains my #1 choice.

Wishful thinking / idea of mine - Madeline dies in NTTD. Bond has little information and leads as to who was involved. So instead of a revenge mission, we get a mission where bond is struggling with depression. No Time To Die being motivation for him to try and fight the depression. Then maybe, later on in the film, Nomi/007 fakes her death then disappears. Bond then gets his number back as MI6 believe Nomi to be dead. Nomi has really actually gone to free Blofeld from prison, and she turns out to be Irma Bunt, or an Irma Bunt-like character (Blofeld's mistress basically). Bond could then discover that it was the 2 of them involved in Madeline's murder. "I didn't just take your number, I took your wife too". This gets bond motivated for his next mission, Bond 26, THE GARDEN OF DEATH.
Honestly, I'm that desperate for that title that I might as well just write to babs!

Bond 27, also with Daniel Craig, and a title I thought up myself "The Ghosts Of Our Past". Referring to all the people Bond has lost in his tenure. Vesper, Mathis, M (Judi), Severine, Strawberry Fields, the old MI6 building, his own will to live in NTTD, Madeline, and possibly even more (Felix? Mallory? Q? Moneypenny? Tanner?). For another Ghost reference for the title, could even add in that Spang Bros ghost town. Sorry if I seem to be dreaming here, I'm just getting excited about bond finally returning after 5 years.

One can dream for a giant squid battle.

Good idea. I've changed the title of the thread. Perhaps it shoold be moved to The James Bond Films section too, but that's beyond my powers.

I'd like to see the following titles used in future films:

    SHATTERHAND

    SHAKEN NOT STIRRED

    DEATH TO SPIES

If there's a Bond film about the villain trying to wipe out the entire 00 division - all the 00 agents - DEATH TO SPIES is the perfect title. :)

SHAKEN NOT STIRRED - I think it's a cool title. It sells itself, really. No explanation needed!

SHATTERHAND - dramatic, a touch absurd but memorable.

oh wow, good ThreadBump. look at us all speculating at what this films going to be about, and what ideas were close and what was way off. No cloning in this film, so they can save that plot element for the next Bond (hey, maybe that's how they will explain... oh never mind, this is a no spoilers thread).

and lookit all the names of ajb007 members who've not posted since the new film came out! I wanna know what @Thunderpussy and @AugustWalker and @Jarvio and all the rest all thought when they finally saw it!

@BIG TAM actually came closest, check it out

Personally I'd like ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD for BOND 25. A nice nod to the past without being a complete rehash.

it wasn't the title of course but the song was played though at least twice in the film.

Once Upon a Spy got a lot of discussion on the first page, and actually would fit with the closing image of the film.

    Licence Renewed

It's the title of the first John Gardner book but after the antics and ending of NTTD I think it's the perfect title to reset the series.

I have to disagree with you there, TonyDP. "Licence renewed" as a title can work if the last movie ended with Bond resigning. We all know it didn't.

  • emtiememtiem SurreyPosts: 5,686MI6 Agent

NAMES ARE FOR TOMBSTONES please! 😁

Someone else did suggest PERCHANCE TO DIE which I do rather like, although I guess it doesn't quite make sense in relation to the phrase it's quoting from.

In terms of continuation novel titles then it's CARTE BLANCHE for me: it's just the perfect Bond title I think. It basically describes his licence to kill, but does so in a fashion which evokes a sense of international style and even card games.

  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 21,701MI6 Agent

I like Carte Blanche as a movie title, but I don't think the novel plot should be used.

What do you you think of my suggestions? Now that I've rejected TonyDP's suggestion I have to pretend I don't mind any misgivings you may have against my ideas.

I'll be moving this thread to the Films forum later today at the request of Number24. Just a little heads up.

    A great resurrection thread !

Re: NTTD, I agree with @caractacus potts, @BIG TAM certainly hit the nail on the head with ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD. Personally, given the appearance of the Poison Garden, I would have preferred to see Safin renamed allowing us to have SHATTERHAND. This would also have neatly continued Craig's title's sibilant repetitions> CASino Royale, Quantum of SolACE, SKYfall, SPEctre.

Going forward, I'd still like to see SHATTERHAND, but I love the first three John Gardner titles.

  • emtiememtiem SurreyPosts: 5,686MI6 Agent
    edited January 2022

I believe Shatterhand is a bit troublesome for a big film as in mainland Europe it's a name from a nursery rhyme or something and so might not sound quite as threatening there :)

All The Time... would definitely have worked, I'd almost be a bit surprised if they hadn't had that on their shortlist for titles for this one. I've always quite liked NTTD as a title though: it may not be hugely Fleming but it does sound like Bond. I remember being immediately more satisfied by it than I was by 'Spectre'.

  • emtiememtiem SurreyPosts: 5,686MI6 Agent

I like 'Blood Runs Cold'. I guess you could pop in an idiom in Fleming style and make it 'Blood Runs Colder Than Water' 😊

I always thought CROSS YOUR HEART should work as a Bond title.

  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 21,701MI6 Agent

I don't know about nursery rhymes, but a very popular series of western novels and some movies (yes, German westerns!) had a character named Shatterhand. I believe the author's name was May and among the many millions of fans was a WWII corporal and failed painter with a mustache like Chaplin's and a worrying thirst for total power.

  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 36,053Chief of Staff

Yes, the author was Karl May and the character Old Shatterhand. I think @CoolHandBond would know more- I only know this much because my sister-in-law sold some in her shop in Berlin.
