Topic: Shane rimmmer spotted aka Commander carter

Quite the weirdest and randomest thing happened to me last Saturday when enroute to Camden, London. Got on the tube sat down after while started looking around (as you do) and noticed a older guy who looked quite familiar. I wasn't sure if it was him or not as obviously alot older and i hadn't seen any recent pics. (guess cos hes out of the lime light now) Anyway just as i was to get off i bit the bullet got up and said to him "excuse me your from the spy who love me right" he was with a woman presumably his wife who heard me more than he did and said "yes thats right". I said "nice to meet you" shook his hand and off i went. Obviously i took this rather embarrising pic on my new phone before i spoke to him not knowing i didn't turn the flash off. Eeeeeeeeeeeeekk bit awkward and embaressing. But hey a little story for you guys

Re: Shane rimmmer spotted aka Commander carter

Mr Rimmer was the Army Colonel in Ant & Dec's Alient Autopsy comedy in 2006, more recently he was a board member in Tim Burton's Dark Shadows.

He has been on the Thunderbirds convention circuit a bit and was the voice of Jeff Tracy in fan film Thunderbirds 2010, made in that year.

This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

And of course as. The voice of Scott Tracey in the original Thunderbirds. He looks good for 87!

whoa that's awesome.  I dunno if I would have even recognized him (no offense) '77 was a long time ago and I haven't seen him in anything recently.

Apart from appearing in YOLT, DAF and TSWLM he may also be dubbing the voice of the agent killed at the start of LALD ("Whose funeral is it?") but I can't confirm that- anyone know for sure?

Re: Shane rimmmer spotted aka Commander carter

He's also in the Superman films - Superman The Movie, Superman II as the guy at Houston (basically the same role as what he did in YOLT) and Superman III as the cop at the power plant failure.

Also has a brief appearance at the start of Star Wars: A New Hope.

So, he's done Thunderbirds, three Superman films, three (possibly four) Bond films, a Star Wars film and a Batman film. Pretty impressive!

Re: Shane rimmmer spotted aka Commander carter

I hadn't listed most things cause I thought everyone knew about them already.  Oops!  ajb007/embarrassed

One of Mr Rimmer's first roles was as a ner do well ex GI character who held Minne Caldwell captive in the early days of Coronation Street.

His association with the Anderson's is of course best remembered as the voice of Scott Tracy, but he also did a couple of voices in Captain Scarlet, and Penned a couple of the episodes of the series. -  I believe he also wrote episodes of Joe 90 and  The Secret Service starring Stanley Unwin.
Mr Rimmer was the co-pilot of the Shadair Jet in the first epsiode of UFO.
He also was the voice of an Eagle pilot in the first episode of Space 1999, and played a subsequent  unlucky astronaut later in the series.
In the mid eighties Gerry Anderson filmed a pilot episode of a programme called Space Police. It didn't sell but later evolved into the series Space Precinct at the start of the nineties. Mr Rimmer played Lieutenant Brogan (played by Ted Shackleford in the later series) in that unsold pilot.

Finally (I think!) he was the voice of robot PI  of Dick Spanner in the series of that name. (The series was a travisty, Mr Rimmer's voicework was the only decent thing in the whole mess.)

To the best of my knowledge he was only in three of the Bond films for certain, (with other Anderson associated actors in each film too) but I will make a point of re watching and listening to the opening scenes of LALD.

Other films include Dr Stangelove, Space Truckers, and something I can't remember right now.  Damn it.

Checked his IMDB and it says he did do Hamilton's voice in LALD.

Have you ever heard of the Emancipation Proclamation?"

Re: Shane rimmmer spotted aka Commander carter

His role in Star Wars is the Rebel flight tech at Yavin IV whom says to Luke Skywalker "Hey, this astromech is a little banged up, you want a new one?" .

Glad that to hear that he is still working, the last movie I saw him in was Batman Begins. Always thought that he was great his bit parts in the Bond series as well, hoping to get his autograph for my collection soon.

Thanks for the info on him being in Star Wars. I'll keep an eye out next time I watch it.

Did you know you can get his autograph on Bondstars ? Looks like he also does "private signings" ever now and then where you can get it personalized as well.  (or take your chances on the Tube in London)
