Looking for: Golden Gun Cigarette case.

Does anyone know where I can find a replica of (or close proximity to) Scaramanga's cigarette case? I think the original was made by Colibri but I've had no joy.

I designed it you can get one from shapeways, but the price is quite high.

you can see the design here.

if you want just a cigarette case, without mechanism for assembly, I also designed one.
I am making cufflink too, working as gimmick for gun, or simply working for wearing.
You can see the cufflink on that video

This is a quite old video, the design has been updated several times since I made it, the actual plastic version I offer on shapeways is a later design.
But I am reworking it completely as I saw the movie in 4k and got pictures from Ed Maggiani.
The major visual change is on the cigarette case, the new design is far better.

I really like your GG design and look, despite it being an older video. I was after a cigarette case as I want to be able to actualy use it aswell as I smoke occasionaly. Mechanism or no mechanism would do me fine. A metal case would be preferable but i'm only thinking out loud here as I don't know what your plans are. It's extremely impressive!!!

Do you have a revised estimate on cost, now, if say, 10 AJB'ers each purchased one?

The price will be crazy, the only thing I hope is the price not to be too much crazy, I am hoping to get close to 2500€ and not over 3500€
Just price quote for plating was 500€ VAT excluded, before recent gold price rise.
Of course, it's watchcase quality, no way to compare to FE or shapeways (0,4 microns at the thickest, watchcase is 5 microns minimum)
The most expensive parts on prototype were the big parts.
Shapeways is the cheapest maker I found, but it was gold plated finished brass, making them charge the polish and gold plating even it was a poor quality work.
I am getting price quote from a different manufacturer, who is accepting my rules, meaning NO sandblasting, NO grinding, no cleaning on wax printed part, keeping shapes and surfaces as clean as possible, I will do the finish work.
I think even with less work from them, price will bit quite high, I just hope it will be cheaper than shapeways (almost two grands for the parts alone).
The good news is I found different printers for the plastic parts, getting some black parts I will be able to polish (nib block), and some high level steel detail parts for the lighter furnace, the price is quite high, but these are small parts and don't rise the total price so much.
Another good news is I got price quote for machined pen parts, cheaper than printing, and of course better finish, and better mechanical poterties, I will save time and money on them, making final price lower in the end.
I will try to get as much machined parts as possible, but for lighter and case, it's very limited, most have to be printed.
For now, cufflink will be funny machined, so will be the pen, except clip and nib, lighter bolt will be machined.
printed parts will be clip and nib, all lighter brass parts, and cigarette case.
Case spring will be titanium, I hope to find some pvd coating company, so I can polish them, and get final gold color, but having titanium spring quality, the springs will have individual (1-10)number and my artist name (atelier arcadia)
I also designed a case, to make from bubinga or padauk, not sure yet, the lock alone is 50 bucks, and have to find someone to make them...
I work on this project form more than one year now, ans worked several month in 2013 too, but gave up at this time.
I don't want to get rich making golden guns, except if FE wants to hire me, the best they could do indeed, I just want to get my own gun paid, maybe the finishing work paid a bit too, so I will try to get it as cheap as possible, but main thing, want it the best as possible.

Ahh. Yeah a lot of work. So it's the plastic one from shapeways for now then, or are there any other alternatives for just the case to hold cigarettes?

    no alternative on shapeways.
I sent you a pm asking questions and telling some things.
I wanted tou know what you wanted to do with the case, but you replied in the thread.
The actual cigarette case can hold classic size cigarettes (it seems classic are 78mm) but not eh king size (seems to be 84mm).
I can make a design change so it can hold king size cigarettes, remove the working assembly part and make a simplier design like this.

    boite-briquet-2.png

You can see the both versions used in the movie at a few seconds.
big one is gimmick, shorter, larger ends.
Small one is classic, longer body, longer main lid, shorter ends.
It's used in "cigarette?" scene, and I suspect there is a cut scene in dinner sequence, when he offers cigarette and probably ignite it, if not, why put gimmick on table, then switch to standart?!
My actual design holds 5 cigarillos, removing the gimmick, you will get one more room, and lowering the inner lid frame up to 10 cigarettes inside.
