For some reason internet doesn't work on my computer now (I'm in the Library). While I miss AJB, it may surprise the younger memebers that it's possible to stay alive and even have fairly meaningful lives without being online all the time. Still, I'm trying to fix the problem.

Funnily enough I've been in the same predicament for a while as my PC at home keeps crashing as soon as it loads up each time. I will have to get it fixed soon (luckily my brother fixes computers) but until then I've just been relying on my smartphone to access AJB.

I too am writing this post from the library. I couldn't agree more with what you say about the virtues of meaningful life offline! A break from the internet is certainly no bad thing sometimes. In fact, I'd say it's healthy.

Hope you get your internet back soon. :)

I believe the police have arrested two people in connection with this theft.

I wonder if the owner was called Scaramanga? :D

Yes, Goldfinger should be the chief suspect in this case. After all, he is on record as saying: "I welcome any enterprise that will increase my stock - which is considerable." :D

Now that the Supreme Court has ruled, I think it‘s time that the UK politics thread will get reopened.

But it is not a ‘discussion’ thread, is it? Why should it be reopened if only one 'side' can express opinions with out being shouted down?

I don't know where to say this. But I saw a book called (I Think) 'The Film Posters of James Bond' showing the different posters of various countries. It is a second hand book. It is for sale at £10. Should I buy it?

If it's a relatively large "coffee-table" book, then yes. I am a Bond poster fanatic, I have a book like that, and it is fantastic. Not only the posters, but stories behind many of them. Caveat: my book only goes through CR. If £10 is within your budget, it's probably worth it.

Thank you for your advice. Yes it is a big book, a hard back. I think it only goes up to Pierce Brosnan films. I have seen it in a charity shop and almost bought it but did not know enough to be sure. I think I should have just bought it anyway to enjoy the great posters inside. I will return to the shop tomorrow to get it.

Personally speaking & for what it's worth - I think it's far too an emotive subject now, with very little chance of any middle ground being found between us all & no good has come from it (as been proven time & time again on there).

But hey ... we are supposedly a democracy, so let the people speak (well unless they come to the decision that no-one was expecting of course!) :)) ;)

The UK Politics thread has been closed many times but not because of opinions. It gets closed when arguments become personal, and sadly that happens all too often.
I don't want to get involved in a never-ending discussion on this subject, or for this thread to function as a surrogate for the UK Politics thread. So, everyone, please, I only want to know if there's a huge demand for it to be reopened. And no, 52/48 isn't a huge demand. ;)

Question: How does the UK PM usually travel?

The german airforce has a (crappy) fleet of state planes which is usually used by the cancellor and the ministers. Is there something similar in the UK or is that a matter for British Airways (or Easyjet :D )

I think the Brexit thread should be re-opened. If you don't Higgins and I will send the issue to the Supreme Court because we believe closing the thread is unlawful! :D

Not sure why that has appeared three times! Apologies.
