The catalogue for this empty your piggy bank annual event is an event in itself measuring an impressive 243mm x 306mm x 33mm and can only be described as a tome which is worth the modest purchase price of £40/$50 in any language at an incredible 520 pages however the Donkey must draw AJBer’s humble attention to the 2 page spread on pages 222 and 223.

Ah great; is this on show at the IMAX again? Last year it was like the best movie museum you've ever been to: so many amazing iconic props to see. My favourite was the actual main hero Cairo Fedora hat from Raiders.

No it’s 811590 the pistol which was last sold through Christie’s in 2006 at The Guns Of James Bond auction as Lot# 236 where it achieved £26,400. The holster sold at the same auction as Lot# 234 where it achieved £1560.

    What’s that one?

It’s the only one that has the film itself as the best provenance. You clearly see the serial number in shot for a long time. Basically, you don’t need a COA as the DVD and BluRay does that for you. One of, if not the only time a clear shot of the serial number can be seen in any Bond film. Or any film at all for that matter.

Ah great, okay, thanks. Is that in lots of shots?

So this one is from publicity shots? And the film too I guess.

You see it on the table with his wallet/passport and keys/pen grenade etc when he’s captured by Alec at the end. The serial number on slide and frame cannot be clearer as the shot is that close up. Superb provenance as you know it was 100% screen seen and pinpointed to a specific scene. Unlike identifying most props and guns to specific scenes, this is easy and foolproof with that particular PPK and can be done by anyone within seconds.

Great, thanks. Although I guess if that’s the only shot it doesn’t mean it’s the one Brosnan actually handles as that shot could have been done weeks later! :)

Is it true that Prop Store is no longer accepting Bond consignments made without EON paperwork?

Shame, I once tried getting in touch because of a screen-used piece of memorabilia but PropStore never bothered to come back to me on it...

Will the transaction be a success even if the hammer price doesn’t meet the estimate?

I went and had a look at these bits and pieces on display in the IMAX: lots of fun stuff. My favourite was Christopher Lee director's chair back from TMWTGG.
Most impressive things there were probably the Keaton/Nicholson outfits from Batman, or the trap from Ghostbusters. They have the grail tablet from Last Crusade! Marty's future Nikes were good though... lots of goodies, well worth a look.

@emtiem, I agree their is quite a bit amazing costumes and props in this auction. I see the rubber stunt version of the Sterling Arms AR 180 assault rifle from TND is up for sale again. Even with the wear and tear it shows, I would think that it go pretty quickly. The last time this prop sold it fetched quite a high price.

Are you asking from a seller's perspective? It depends on item cost. In the U.S., collectibles profits are taxed at a 28% rate, other items flipped within 12 months at a 20% rate (approximate). eBay/PayPal eat at least 14% of sales, and auction houses eat 20% of the hammer price. I could auction a $2,000 item for $3,000 and be in trouble!

I have friends at several auction houses and am glad to help anyone make contact and get their items marketed and sold properly, but the best auction items are iconic and highly valuable.

Thanks but I meant if PropStore will sell the item to me even if the highest bod (my bid) won’t match the lowest estimate of theirs.

Unlikely unless they take a lower than minimum when the auction is live.
