The list has now been circulated to MA.

An update on pricing, cost will be €240 for EU including shipping.

Pricing for USA however, including shipping and all import duties paid is however $385. I appreciate this is beyond expectations in the US. Apologies for this emerging late in the day! The option to cancel still remains when order details are emailed to you (or alternatively find someone on forum in EU to bring them across to you).

I am still awaiting confirmation from the following on whether they want to still order which needs to occur fairly quickly now:

    Tardis1711
    Vegasbond
    Jared_nomak
    Commandant
    Steve007

I was figuring $300 per pair with s/h but $385 seems a little high especially if the price includes vat/duties to the US which it shouldn't. I've emailed MA for clarification on this and once I have an update I'll post it here.

I was also just emailed with the $385 price. A bit surprising so I also replied for price clarification. I was thinking the same price as you Mikeg77. Unfortunately, if that ends up being the true final price, I will have to bow out. Hoping for positive news though.

  • A little off topic (but not that far off) has Connolly said whether or not they will be reissuing the blue cotton/linen jacket?
I read somewhere that they only made 15 in total ?:)

Shouldn't be that hard to get 15 interested in a small run, just saying

I believe I read in the NTTD Wardrobe thread a while back that it was confirmed that Connolly will be bringing it back early next year.

It'll be a bargain compared to what some of us are going to drop on the N.Peal stuff.

If anyone in USA wants to send to me in U.K. and I can forward onto USA from U.K. as appears it will be cheaper
  • cederic0011cederic0011 UKPosts: 181MI6 Agent
The pricing to USA will unfortunately not change based on my discussions with MA, so it will be $385 v's European cost of €240. The difference is due entirely to the shipping, import duties and HANDLING charges of the shipping companies that MA use to provide their delivery service. The actual delivery cost is a small fraction of the costs $30-40 the rest are duties and those HANDLING charges of the shipping company! For companies like MA, this ensures that their product is delivered direct to your door and they are not left having to deal with packages getting stuck in customs.

I am no expert on this, but just to illustrate, we face the same issue in EU, importing from the the US. If I buy a pair of Billy Reid jeans say, online at £220 ($245) from US, then my delivered price is £350: so £130 extra - which Billy Reid state as £30 (cheapest) delivery cost plus import, duties, handling charges which are £100. So buying Billy Reid in the UK, there is a significant price issue, and if we want their product then generally there are only occasional options to buy from within EU. Same has happened on eBay over recent years, where people sign up to ship under "Global Shipping" the cost becomes prohibitive to import from US. All of this is no particular help for us I know, but it illustrates that its not just an MA issue, but part of the tightening up firstly by customs to capture duties and then being "exploited" by shipping companies to manage this process ( that at least is how these costs appear to me!).

Apologies again that we did not get to this earlier, but I think the guy who is co-ordinating this all for us at MA, had not realised himself until he started processing the orders internally. MA will only ship this way to US is my current understanding, so no way around with MA.

Therefore the alternatives are either to pay the $385; cancel the order(but please let MA know directly when they contact you, as otherwise its going to delay things for everyone); or, once you receive your payment request from MA, to respond with a new EU delivery address, and then get someone to ship them to you direct as this allows flexibility about how this is done ;) and much more cost effective! There are already some volunteers on the thread to do this, so suggest you PM them if you want to go this way and then inform MA directly of changed address and request for new invoice with EU cost.

Thank you Cederic for the explaination. Very good information for the future. Unfortunately, I’m going to bow out of this opportunity. Will let MA know when/if they contact me.

MA told me they wont be ready to accept orders until January. They're just compiling names for a list at the moment. So there's plenty of time to save up if you're on the fence.
  • cederic0011cederic0011 UKPosts: 181MI6 Agent
    Latest Update:
The order will go out to production on Monday. I have PM'd individually the 8 people who MA say they have not yet received a response from, so please check your messages and respond accordingly.

If anyone who was on the list, still wants to order and has not received an email direct from MA(Alessandro), then please let me know (PM me) and I can still rectify this! I suspect there still may be some in this category and it may well include some of the 8 already PM'd! As I said from outset, it is not always straightforward with MA!

Otherwise thank you everyone for your speedy co-operation.

Hi cederic0011, is there perhaps an updated news from Massimo Alba about the trousers?

    Thanks for your effort.
  • cederic0011cederic0011 UKPosts: 181MI6 Agent
The order has gone to production as per the orders participants confirmed to MA. Payment will be processed and orders will be shipped, most likely in January as it took a while for MA to confirm everyone’s order, so the original plan of December was delayed.

This is different to TF who take payment upfront prior to sending to production, but MA are treating these all as confirmed, committed orders.

So no more orders can be taken for the SA colour of the grey trousers.

There will be similar SS20 trousers in grey, but a different colour code to the SA version.

Cool nice job , refreshing that we don't have to pre pay just yet.

cederic0011, in your 1st post in this topic, you described the trousers as grey (neutral/ beige in certain lights) in baby cord, a definite lightweight spring/summer fabric.
Member 'Noi' wrote in the 'No Time To Die wardrobe: possible spoilers' topic, in his post number 1,766; 'Alba had very similar trousers in stock which were named Winch Trousers (60% linen 40% cotton which matches to the Connolly-Jacket or the hot Matera weather and even the color could be right'.

Massimo Alba described in his Instagram message of 22 November that the trousers in NTDD, is a Winch trousers.

I just want to check if the Massimo Alba trousers Craig wears in the 'romantic scene' in Matera, was indeed made of baby cord? And not with 60% linen and 40% cotton and Noi described?

cederic0011, I hope you can tell me this. Thanks for your help.

The Linen-Winch was just a guess and I did not see that Thread here.
"Winch" is a name for their trousers and they issued them in different materials: cotton/linen/cord
It sounds like MA has confirmed that Craig wears the Cord-Version and I will delete/edit my post with the Linen-Winch to prevent any confusion. Sorry.

The "Steps" trouser order will be delivered to Massimo Alba on 12 December.

Those who ordered will receive an email over the coming week (I do not know when) from Massimo with details of how to make payment - either Paypal or a direct Bank Transfer.

They hope to get these out to people prior to Christmas, if payments are prompt.

(For those that individually ordered the SLOOP suit - the timing will be the same - hope this is helpful)
