Re: The 007 Scrapbook .

Disney CEO Bob Iger would buy James Bond if it was for sale:https://www.digitalspy.com/movies/a30204388/james-bond-disney-bob-iger/

If you ask me Disney already owns enough IP's and I am perfectly fine a new movie every two to three years. Their have been times, I worry that Disney is oversaturating Star Wars and Marvel Comics fans with all of the movie releases and tv shows on Disney +. I would much rather have a new video game based on an original story, the comic book series from Dynamite comics and a decent novel in between films.

Re: The 007 Scrapbook .

From George Lazenby, on FaceBook-

Hey guys - Recently, the worst aspects of the tabloid press have taken some words of mine out of context. I'd like to correct the sentiments I allegedly expressed.
For the record, I have never given a recent interview to the UK's Daily Star or Daily Mail tabloids.
More importantly, as an 80 year old man, I commented on changing societal attitudes. The misleading headline ignores my main point: it's not a bad thing, just different.
I was the son of a smart, strong woman who raised me with equality with an independent sister. I have been married twice to very smart, intelligent women. I have 3 incredibly smart, intelligent daughters.
I worked in the fashion industry in the 1960s, a place where women led men in terms of career and progress and pay.
As somewhat of a hippie in the late Sixties and early Seventies, I fully supported and cheered on the female emancipation movement from the Patriarchy.
Of course things have changed and so they should. Bond was once described, correctly, as a "sexist, misogynist dinosaur." I may be a dinosaur but it would miss the point to describe me as the other words.
I have huge respect and admiration for all genders. At a time when we are seeing we have far to progress on equality, I hope I can be known as The Spy Who Loved #MeToo.

I won't give a link to the tabloids Mr Lazenby mentions. You can find them easily enough if you like.

Re: The 007 Scrapbook .

ajb007/martini  Nice to see old George setting the record straight.  Personally I wouldn't
believe anything in the tabloids.

Re: The 007 Scrapbook .

Nice to hear George say that. Tabloids are notorious for quoting people out of context and making up their own stories based on words people said. I applaud George for making this statement.

Though I would suspect he's wrong about the fashion industry. Many women may have had power in that industry for a long time (like Coco Chanel), but historically there have been more men at the top of fashion. Men have abused power in that industry in horrible ways too.

Re: The 007 Scrapbook .

What did the tabloids say?

Re: The 007 Scrapbook .

As I said two posts earlier, I'm not giving a link to them. Why encourage them? The British press are (mainly) uninformative, biased, and given too much credence and attention for their ever-diminishing circulation.

Re: The 007 Scrapbook .

My mistake- I should have said "deeply biased".

Re: The 007 Scrapbook .

I understand your view on British tabloids and reasons for not posting a link, but what did thay say?

Re: The 007 Scrapbook .

It started with Diana Rigg eating garlic to spite GL...and the tabloids are still at it!

Re: The 007 Scrapbook .

In my opinion Paula Vacker (from Gardner's "Icebreaker") was an unrealistic name for a character, unlike realistic and everyday names like Pussy Galore  ajb007/lol. The character is from Finland, but the country was a part of Sweden for hpundreds of years.  Scandinavian last names are usually from a place (Dahl) or son of someone in the bloodline (names ending with -sen or -son), not dicriptive names like Vacker (Beautiful). But today I learned that the Swedish army historically often renamed their soldiers to avoid having thousands of soldiers with names like Andersson or Karlsson. These names were sometimes discriptive, simply a result of a clerk looking at some recruit and using whatever he noticed about him as a name. At least one military family in Sweden is called Fager, a synonyme of Vacker. I happy to learn that Bondian names are more common than you'd think  ajb007/bond
