Re: Poll: Who would you like to be the next James Bond in Bond 26?

Interesting. It would definitely be exiting to see in the future how they will pull this off.

Re: Poll: Who would you like to be the next James Bond in Bond 26?

One of the things all the Bond actors has had in common is a very good voice, in particular Connery, Moore, Dalton and Craig in my opinion. I know Moore and Dalton has done a lot of voice acting. From what I've heard in interviews Aidan Turner is the one of the candidates we often mentioned who has a voice compareable to them. If we compare his speaking voice to a man like Charlie Hunnam he sounds much better. What do you think?

I haven't seen this posted yet about James Norton so thought I would share it...

Thanks. I saw that over the weekend. Seems highly improbable to me.

Good enough actor but not on my list. Norton is tall but I find him unconvincing in any action...just doesn't move very well. One of those guys who looks the part in a still photo with a tux on but as soon as he starts moving he's just another tall, pretty face in a tux.

What? You mean The Sun isn't a beacon of light and truth?

I've liked Norton fine in the movies and films I've seen him in, but he hasn't jumped off the screen in a way that makes me think, "He's going to be a superstar."

To be fair, if I could predict these things, I would be a highly paid casting director in Hollywood and not a guy who watches movies in his underwear on his couch.

But I can think of other actors who I saw in something obscure and recognized their as yet untapped star quality. Florence Pugh was one. It was more than her pretty face. I watched The Little Drummer Girl and said, "She's got it — whatever it is." And now she's nominated for an Oscar.

Craig himself was another. He doesn't have a lot to do in Munich but he made an impression on me. And we all know about Layer Cake.

Re: Poll: Who would you like to be the next James Bond in Bond 26?

I think James Norton simply doesn't look though enough. On paper he is a good candidate, but I don't think he's the right one.

Re: Poll: Who would you like to be the next James Bond in Bond 26?

Did anyone watch the three-part Dracula serial with the Danish actor Claes Bang playing the Count? At 52 years old he’s not in the running, but he imbues the Dracula role with a very Pierce Brosnan-esque vibe, and definitely looks the part (apart from the fangs, that is  ajb007/biggrin ).

"How was your lamb?" "Skewered. One sympathises."

Have you seen him in Happy Valley?

Re: Poll: Who would you like to be the next James Bond in Bond 26?

No, I haven't followed that series. I've mainly seen him in in War & Peace and Granchester, and photos on the internet. Just saw a couple of clips and he does look more convincing. Norton is now higher up on my list of possible Bonds, but he's still not in the top five.

Re: Poll: Who would you like to be the next James Bond in Bond 26?

He was a nasty bit of work in Happy Valley .

Re: Poll: Who would you like to be the next James Bond in Bond 26?

So I understand. He describes his character as a psycopath.

I am really starting to warm to the thought of Nicholas Hoult.  I see he has been cast in the new Mission Impossible film.  That may help his cause depending on the role

Check him out in McMafia, N24 ajb007/smile

Yes I actually feel he might be possible too. Not seen him in that sort of role quite yet though so I don't know fully if he can.

I definitely think the next Bond won't necessarily be in the classical 'white, handsome, big chinned, dark-haired' mould of Connery/Dalton/Lazenby/Rock Hudson/James Garner- Craig has changed that. Someone else actually suggested Cillian Murphy because of his screen presence in Peaky Blinders, and although I don't think they'd go for him, I do think his slightly odder looks would be less important than his charisma to the producers.

I predict Henry Golding will be the next, first non-Anglo, James Bond 007.

If by "Anglo" you mean of the English people, he counts. He's half-English. While Moore and Craig are the most Anglo Bonds being the only Bonds from England, Lazenby and Dalton are English names and likely have some Anglo ancestry. And the Anglo-Saxons and modern English people invaded or migrated to many places throughout the British Isles, so it's likely there's English blood in Connery and Brosnan too. Golding is possibly more Anglo than some of the other Bond actors being half English.

Re: Poll: Who would you like to be the next James Bond in Bond 26?

I think Henry Golding is worth considering, but to my eyes he looks too slick and modelish. I suspect I would have problems telling him apart from a large number of male east Asian models. Has he impressed as an actor?

Well there you go. My prediction stands, whatever his ethnicity...

That's primarily what I know Norton from. I actually like that show and I like Norton in it but that's where I came to my opinion that he's not Bond material. Norton just does not move well. He's tall and fit but too wide in the hips and narrow in the shoulders....not a good look for Bond IMO.

He's a very wooden actor but could look the part.
