One study in America found that only 66% of 18 to 24 yr olds believe the Earth is round. :D

But remember, stupidity knows no borders!
Why don't more members meet up here tonight to drink different types of alcohol to rejoyse in shared stupidity? Personally I've never needed alcohol to do dumb things, a blessing considering Norwegian alcohol prices. :D :D :D

I love all these conspiracy theories , Flat Earth, Hollow Earth, Nazi complex in Antarctica
    Fake Moon Landings etc {[]

as for the Giant Sperm, Looks normal size to me {:)

I've given up on Picard , it so slow moving, Patrick Stewart looks frail, and the ethos is 180%
    from what Gene Roddenberry envisage.

(Thunderbird 2 pours himself a double Jamesons, his hands shaking.
Holly is watching him, and looks concerned, wide eyes ears alert.
Freddy is gently nudging his Mother, as though to prompt her into action.)

I have just been to the tributes thread. Going in there is bad enough, having to post something is awful!!
(Holds up glass.) Rest in peace Dr Couper. You opened the eyes of thousands of kids to the wonders of the Galaxy.
As one of them, Thank You.

(Cries, farts, blows nose, then double takes at Holly.). Oh that is sweet of You two but I'll be ok.

DSC is crap on a stick. Simple as that. Was **** from the off.
PIC is worse because it started rather well, began with some promise, but I can't believe how bad it was this week.

There really is nothing in the telly now, what with Thunderbirds Are Go is finally finished.

Anyone else want something? (Finishes drink puts bittle back.)
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

A Coke Zero, please. Sorry about Dr. Sheldon Coo … I mean Dr Couper. She was portrayed in the movie Hidden Figures, right?

I'm quite enjoying Picard. Must be me.

What have you done to anoyed Pickard, Barbel? Where is Picard, did he baldly go to the bar next door - The Quiet Lazer and the Green Girl?
  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 36,053Chief of Staff
    :)) Possibly.
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
:)) He was probably asked to leave because the amount of " Fs" bombs he was dropping
all over his new show. Even though as pointed out in Star Trek 4 .... SWEARING had not
been used since the late 20/21st century.
Picard and Discovery all show a dystopian future which is at odds with the ethos of ST.
Money had been done away with, Hunger was a thing of the past and all races in the federation
were are good terms with each other.
Gene Roddenberry due to his experiences in the war, wanted to show a hopeful future for mankind.
Showing the different races working together on the bridge of the enterprise.
Now we have graphic violence ( as in the start of episode 5, which looked like something from a SAW movie )
it's just all Crap ( In my opinion anyway ) ;) it has a second series in production, mainly because it was
    so expensive to make.
I'll stick to The Orville, which is more in keeping to the values and ethos of the original Star Trek. A bright
hope filled future for us all. {[]

    Live long and prosper ;)

There's also the incest Romulan Bro and
    Sister story ( don't know where that's
Going ) .... I find it all a bit yucky!

Also in Picard they seem to have forgotten
That phases have a stun setting :D you
    Don't have to kill everyone.

Picard has an Irish Romulan house keeper !
Mrs Doyle, I presume. Don't get me wrong
It's nice to know there was an Irish community
On Romulan, it's just up till now they've all
Sounded American. Picard flew across the universe to find a special Romulan fighter ?
Didn't he notice how his house keeper and
His valet both took out a special forces unit by themselves, They could have saved one entire episode by just bringing Mrs Doyle along.

Rant over, normal service will resume.

Today A big searchlight showed up in the sky, possibly mounted on the ridge of a mountain. I seem to remember some kind of big light in the sky months ago, but I can't be sure. Could it be linked to the white layer on the ground? My first thought was it could be snow, but snow stays on the ground all winter, but this stuff only stays a day or two. Strange days …..

The big light only peeked over the mountain for about half an hour. It looked really pretty. :)

I appreciate your take on classic Star Trek Thunderpussy, very much like my own.
There's so much dystopic scifi, but Rodenberrry's vision was unique in offering hope for humanity's future.

I think the franchise started darkening during later episodes of Next Generation, as they weren't exploring the cosmos so much anymore but getting tangled up in interstellar politics. Then even more so in Deep Space Nine, which was all about interstellar politics.

But it was the shortlived prequel series Enterprise I really noticed some of this completely unStar Trek like behaviour you mention ... that show's excuse is it was an evolutionary stage between our real world and the scientific utopia of Kirk'n'Spock's era, but it just wasn't delivering any sort of satisfactory Star Trek experience for me.

The Jar Jar Abrams movies I did not like at all. Coopting the names of beloved characters for a generic action film full of nonstop explosions and everybody knows kung-fu, and no philosophical debates on the bridge?!!?
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
For dystopic scifi I enjoy The Expanse. Plenty of political double dealing etc. I
just expect something a little better from something using a Star Trek title.

We buildt two, both only slightly shorter than Daniel Craig :v
Then we dragged them on tobogganboards after the tractor.
    How was your day? :D

Today I found out Greta Thunberg helped hundreds of kids skip school and caused chaos in an English town, which included long traffic jams in cold weather, and that cold stationary cars polute more than free flowing cars. :D

Trusty Wikipedia tells me that Antartica contains approximately 26,500,000 gigatonnes of ice. 3% of that is 795,000 gigatonnes, or 795,000,000,000,000 tonnes...795 trillion tonnes. That’s a lot of penguin pee! :))

Apparently encouraging children to miss school is an actual criminal offence ;)

When I was at school, I needed no excuse to bunk off :D
