McDonald's and Subway have closed down.

Might be for the better; the work force in these places (at least here in F) is mostly younger people. We all know the laissez faire attitude younger people tend to have...
I voluntarily separated myself from these "business restaurants" when this pandemic started, and I've lost 2lbs already!!!! :)) :)) :)) :))

I hope in this years New Years Honours list, they forget about celebs and politicians and
instead give them to the many Doctors, Nurses and paramedics etc.

Time is STILL being lost…the government has refused (so far) to close pubs/restaurants/theatres/gyms and other nonessential businesses down - this stops them claiming on their insurance…for some reason the government are protecting the insurance companies - or putting them above working people.
Traffic on the roads has dropped considerably and it’s getting to about a quarter of the workforce (where I work) that are self-isolating already.

    Thanks, Sir Miles,

I have just read an interesting article about the strategy of the UK government.
It says that at the beginning, after long discussions and under the leadership of Dominic Cummings, the strategy of herd-immunity was set and that meant to accept thousands of fatalities, probably in the 10.000s.

Only after simulations based on the Italy numbers showed potential 250.000 and more deaths, BOjo‘s team decided to radically change and order drastic measures.

Is that all phantasy or has that more substance?

One of the positive effects of Corona (there are a couple) may be its effect on out use of technology in society. The use of home offices, online conserts, teaching via the internet, online yoga classes, and video conferancing in the business and so on has many oportunities. I'm not saying we should stop interacting directly and just sit at home, but IT opens up oportunities for sick children who can't be at school, parents who has to sit at home because of the child, people in rural areas etc. In adition this can stop alot of international travel if people can help cut cost and help cutting CO2 emissions.

    Hear hear!

Also when this is finally over, I hope the Tories do the following:

    1) Reinstate the free TV licence for OAPs - as has been brought into sharp focus for many people during the quarantine, this is their only lifeline and form of entertainment.
    2) invest massively in the NHS!!!!

I tried to become an NHS volunteer, but at the moment it's only registering in England. Although I'm sure it will soon also be in the rest
    Of the country.

    My pleasure.

Plenty of truth in that - herd immunity was the favoured option for awhile...it’s actually a good way for people to become immune - well, the ones that live anyway...the ‘side effect’ of that was deaths of up to 750,000 :o

I work for the NHSBSA - I’m not frontline NHS, nowhere near in fact…my part deals with reimbursing pharmacies for the drugs they issue…but we do get all the relevant (and non-relevant) information passed down and across…and information changes by the hour!

I still find it difficult to accept that the UK government deliberately decided to gamble with the lifes of tens of thousands of their own citizens during a virus threat with a significantly higher infection rate and lethality.

I do hope that when after this is all over, the ones responsible will be held accountable and that it will be made transparent, how many lifes have been lost because of these horrible decisions.

It‘s also remarkable that there is not any public outrage about that from those who blindly support this government and ride up all other enragement waves when it happens on the other side.

It‘s just unethical to sacrifice human lifes for the benefit of the economy.

This is absolutely bonkers! The guesstimated HIT for COVID-19 is between 29%-74% (some say it's as bad as 60%), with CFR of 2,3% (23rd March 20) that's still thousands of people.

I find it impossible to understand people like that.

On the other hand I'm impressed by Germany. They flew very ill Corona patients from Italy to hospitals in Germany. As we know the Italian health service is near a breaking point and I'm sure help is very welcome. I think most countries wants to hold on to the hospitals and respirators they have in case they find themselves in a situation like the one Italy is in, but Germany shows moral courage.

Camilla Stoltenberg is Director of Public Health in Norway (and also the sister of NATO General Secretary) believes the anti-Corona meassures will last for at least 18 more months. Let's hope she's wrong.

If that happens it will impact many things, likely also the NTTD relaese date.

I bet it gets punted to 2021. I really hope I'm wrong and that this all resolves itself in the next few months but I suspect we're in this for the long haul.

Maybe they give up, and do a digital release. It will come to the point when I'll just want to see it, no matter whether it's on the big screen or little screen.

Cebu now has 12 confirmed cases of Coronavirus and a state of calamity has been enacted. Food parcels are being delivered to the families of those affected.

I've been completely against it, but if NTTD gets delayed all the way to late summer next year I think a digital release should be considered.

I was thinking the other night, how sad it will be for those Bond fans of a certain age who, due to
this virus may not be around to see NTTD. I know we all have more important worries for family
and friends etc, but I for one would hate to go out in a pine box without seeing it, with it being
so close. So Yes, I'm all for a digital release.
