Some of the music which was added to the extended edition of the OST in 2003 is in the form of medleys- eg "Aki, Tiger And Osato" so I won't be mentioning all of the cues.

Get the disks out, start the players and get rid with the dodgy menus.

    Pause right before the gunbarrel.

We are starting at 19:10 GMT

Remiss of me, but I never bought the 2003 extended edition. Just got the additional cues arranged by Raine for his own album.

There's some lovely music there, Shady. The Raine-covered cues are in a medley called "James Bond In Japan", along with other cues.

Gunbarrel music in a slightly higher key than usual (Fm rather than Em)

Music- “Capsule In Space” Fantastic work from John Barry here. It’ll be repeated later in the movie. Barry added a few bars and re-recorded it as “Space March” for a later album. Cover versions exist.

Slightly different sound to the guitar riff in the Bond theme for the gunbarrel...a bit more 'plunky'.

'Capsule in Space' is the Barry cue which David Arnold identifies as having had a huge formative impact on him as a youngster...

This whole sequence is tense and well constructed despite its dependency on sfx.

this control room set seems like a 'real' location vs something built for the film. Do you know if this was the case?

Stock footage used well, mixed in with actors

Shane Rimmer, arguably playing the same character as in DAF. He gets more lines there + a name (Tom)
  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 36,053Chief of Staff
David Bauer (? spelling) who’s also in DAF as Mr Slumber, as the US rep

    Tsai Chin, later in CR06

The American ambassador also pops up in DAF as Morton Slumber...

Pretty decent special effects for the year that this was made.

Can we talk about the logistical impossibility of this?
    - the weight of the SPECTRE capsule would be completely unbalanced now.
    - there's no way that the SPECTRE capsule has enough fuel capacity to enter orbit, much less return, considering the size.

    But, movie. It's fiction.

It's not rocket science. Oh, wait...

There is a certain scene later when Blofeld is sitting in his chair with his back to us, look at his head and you will see he has hair, the reason for this is it Is Jan Werich and not Donald Pleasance.

Barry edited together over 20 takes of Nancy Sinatra singing to get the final vocal. Robbie Williams and Guy Chambers used part to create their hit “Millenium”.

Nancy Sinatra recorded a different version of the song with her usual collaborators Lee Hazelwood and Billy Strange- this is usually on her own albums but has by mistake turned up on Barry and/or Bond compilations
  • HigginsHiggins GermanyPosts: 16,618MI6 Agent
Young Higgins found the song boring and lame.

    He was wrong!
However Nancy misses a note or two
