I've just got round to reviewing your realtime commentary on this film, dont know why I forgot
... I always enjoy reading the uncensored spontaneous comments and all the trivia.

I think there's a strong implication, here, that Bond and Eve actually do get it on, after the fade-out (though Mendes denies it, conscious of the tradition that Bond and Moneypenny are never actually supposed to do the deed)

    Yes, they did. Clearly.
The dialog in the Casino scene supports this.

"you look beautiful in that dress"
"you don't scrub up so bad yourself"
"well it's amazing what one can do with an extra pair of hands"
    "you're telling me"
Again this is ambiguous and could be read literally as them helping each other dress, but check out Craig's sleazy emphases on "amazing" and "hands". The more obvious reading is they had their hands all over each other long after the shaving was done.

the line "a close shave" is itself a tribute to Goldinger when Bond shaves on Pussy's plane and she comments after "you like a close shave don't you?"

Honestly, the actress playing Severine is a real find. I don't know if I've seen her in anything else but boy does she deliver the goods here. Indeed, she's honestly better than the role requires, elevating all of her scenes.
Bérénice Marlohe has a cameo in Twin Peaks the Return

    as does Monica Belluci.
CraigBond and Deputy Director Gordon Cole are dating the same chicks!

So, as someone who has never read the actual Bond novels...
    Gymkata!!!
I remember you bought that nice box set two years ago!
Was that just for background decoration in your home office during video conferences?

Garbel: can we get a photo of the Fleming manor in Scotland?

I take it you mean me?

I visited the Skyfall house when they were filming this; you could wander right up to it. The little escape tunnel was there too which was a bit of a spoiler. I'm sure I've got photos of it somewhere.

Yes, here you go. You can click for bigger versions.

Here's the chapel in the foreground- you can see its plywood roof. Also notice the middle of the house is empty.

    P1090268.jpg
    This was a fun shot.

    P1090272b.jpg
Looking at this I almost wonder if the house was full scale. Those people look quite big in relation.

thanks Barbel, i know you are the quotemeister!

I noticed this when we did the groupwatch of Goldfinger a few weeks ago, shortly after I myself watched SkyFall for the first time in a couple years.
The line has more significance in SkyFall, especially because it describes the-did-they-or-didnt-they debate. But the whole film is full of references to past films and this line echoes Goldfinger.
And I think it has a double meaning when Pussy speaks the line too, she suspects despite all his casual charm Bond has been up to something.

Was that an unused first take of Sylva's arrival? maybe in tribute to Octopussy?
Somebody had to point out a hot-air balloon is not scary at all, even if it is actually silent.
Let's just use a big noisy helicopter like we always do, a helicopter is always scary.

Yeah as you see, you could just wander up to it- plenty of folks walking their dogs having a look! There were security guys around but they were fairly casual. They were still constructing it by the looks of the pics so it wasn't quite a set yet. There were lots of weird dead prop trees all over the place too :) I just wish I'd known about the gateposts! I don't know if they were there at that point but I'd have loved a pic of them :)

My mate lives even more local and rode his bike past one day when they were filming and he saw the Aston there. Seeing James Bond's house with James Bond's car parked out the front would be pretty cool I think!

Oh damn! It looks like in the background of this one you can see the gateposts! I would have found out what 'Skyfall' meant before everyone else if only I'd gone up there :)

I guess the finale had to be re-written when the scene with the hot air balloon crashing into skyfall manor didn't have the ….. impact they needed :))
