"He's back! Sean Connery... as Ian Fleming's James Bond, Double O Seven!"
Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 53 years.

Threathening a woman with strangling her with her bra .....
Perhaps not completely #Metoo, but it's very Fleming.

Sorry I’m late bloddy tech problems....
The A.R.S.E is doing the SABs.
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

An interesting thing about this 'Marie' scene is that I often hear people comment about Bond's sandals...which are only visible in the trailer. So, my question is, can Bond be held accountable for a so-called fashion faux pas that isn't even visible in the final film?

By the way - As a South African I can't imagine life without sandals/flip-flops/some other open toed footwear.

Quite violent for the time for an ‘A’ certificate film with the finger clasp
Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

    Stinky mashed potato...

The two guys in helmets were OHMSS heavies... one a Draco man, the other a SPECTRE man

I actually like this PTS, especially the "Welcome to hell.Blofeld" line.
But Connery looks very camp when he puts his hands up :))

The 2003 remaster has a slightly longer version of the title song (inc the opening sting as the camera freezes on the cat plus more of the ostinato before Dame Shirley starts singing) compared to the familiar released version

Bond wears them in the novel Thunderball when he meets Domino for the first time...

The title song is one of the strenghts of DAF.

Not my favourite Binder title sequence, but a solid mid-table effort.

So much theme-ology is unpacked from the song and threaded throughout the score...

Sir Donald = Colonel Smithers from GF, more of this film channelling GF (we've already heard Shirley Bassey)

The first shot after the PTS is a reflection, jut like OHMSS.

Sir Donald is played by the actor who was Roger Moore's boss in The Persuaders!

I love this battle of wits between M and Bond

The dialogue surrounding sherry is great, also a callback to the 30 year old Fine, indifferently blended from Goldfinger.

Music “Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd” Covered by Nic Raine 1999, before Barry’s official version released 2003. Always loved this

Sir Donald's looped dialogue... it may have been an editing fix but it works

I'd actually like to see some scenes of Bond being a know-it-all in the future. I can't remember any scenes like that during Craig's tenure.
  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 36,060Chief of Staff
These scenes are similar to the book, without being exact

It very effectively sets up a camp but moody tone, just right for these villains and for the movie generally

The actor Laurence Naismith also had an amusing role as a moaning poultry farmer in The Dam Busters, one of my all time favourites.
