The discussion wasn't just about M or that one shot, it was about that fight and the editing of fight scenes in QoS. I'd say I was more spot on than some.

I've got to say that one effect of the action editing is to add interest to repeated viewings. To a degree. With each viewing, one hopes to make better sense of what's happening than in the viewing before; one sort of develops an improving sense of what to look out for. But in sequences where some of the necessary information just isn't there at all, this ends up feeling like chasing a holy grail.
Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 53 years.

Yeah every time I watch the boat chase I expect there to be a shot where we see Bond throw the other end of the rope, with anchor attached, into the water- but I haven't seen it once yet. As it is, it always seems to work that throwing one end of a rope that's in your boat into another one makes it flip over, and that's not quite consistent with the physics of the world I live in.

Does Sir Miles's copy have that shot in it?

IMHO he wasn't. In CR06 Le Chiffre tells Craig (I often can't bring myself to call him Bond) that Mathis is his friend to draw suspicion away from Vesper. Apart from that there's no indication that he's a double agent.

I tend to lean that way too...it’s just the dialogue they have as Mathis is dying ?:)

Could be that Mathis is also turned like Vesper was and neither know about the other?

No, it was just about that one shot...as you referenced yourself...

No.The director should have shot the scene in a way that makes it clear what’s happening.

…as that followed a couple of posts about the possible(?) shooting of M...if you meant the chase as a whole then I apologise as I’ve completely misread your post as a follow on from that.

We were discussing the one shot as a part of a general cristisism of the edioting of that scene and the other action scenes in QoS. I know from experience how difficult it can be dropping into an ungoing discussion, so we're fine.

It has to be remembered that there was a writers' strike at the time and various people worked on the script. Perhaps the editor wrote that dialogue...?

It's alphabetical, so the new entry is just before "Eon"

"Suggested by AJB member Number24". That's too nice …. "suggested by AJB member Number24's butter-fingered typing" would be more honest :))

True enough but you’d think they would have had a clear idea by the time they came to film that scene? I guess at least one them watched CR06 :v perhaps DC made it up as he went along - he did have a hand in writing it.

As with so much in this film, Camille's back markings are never explained.

To that point, there's no way that a woman would wear a shirt like that with those scars. Most guys wouldn't either.

True, so we're supposed to notice it... and then it's never explained.

I watched QoS again last night as it was on tv. When Camille goes to see Dominic after he tried to have her killed, they're standing at the water's edge and he has his arms around her. He says " you know what burns me more than all your bullsh*t ……… " and as he says that he touches her scars. If that's meant to be a clue, it's a poor one. I've never picked up on that before and only noticed it last night because it came up in this chat.

I watched it again last night also...

As for the possibility of M being shot - again I think it’s very clear that the metal stand in front of her is hit (you can hear the sound of the bullet hit it) and then you see M running away...

And as for the scars on Camille’s back? These are explained during a conversation she has with Bond.

Been away from all things Bond for a few months.

As you know I n the UK they are playing each DC film one per week. In hommage I have been choosing a suitable attire each weekend so this week it was ......

    Today it was this

    0-B0-FA7-B6-621-E-4141-90-A5-4-A0-D91-EA9-B73.jpg

    Yesterday it was this

    6-DC761-A4-CF96-4-CAF-A2-A8-66-B2-A317-ED2-F.jpg

Not the strongest plot vs what was originally planned for QOS, but I do like the styling! The original plan was it would release 1 year after CR and would see Bond going in search of Vespers boyfriend, but he finds himself embroiled in a multilayered charade involving stolen antiquities, arms dealing, precious metals, nerve gas, the CIA and a mysterious organisation similar to SPECTRE. Kind of a shame really they never got that far.

And just messing with some props this:

With an afternoon off I decided to do some reading on the film here:

Well it keeps me outta trouble in these pandemic times :))

My downfall I just found a black 2008 DBS with Casino wheels only 75k! (maybe one day)

Roll on Skyfall next week, but choices are limited for summer wear so I guess it will be the Setters one day and enjoying death the next depending on the weather!

    Cheers :007)
