I really enjoyed The Alienist, I'll admit that some of the episodes did seem a little
" Padded " to fill ten episodes, But I loved the atmosphere of the series.

Thanks Thunderthighs ... I'll give The Alienist another try ( I do have a soft spot for Luke Evans)

Inspired by this chat I have created a playlist on Spotify for myself.

Of the modern stuff I have added 'Succession' (absolutely brilliant) and 'Line of Duty'

My all time favourite though is 'The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe'.

Plundertushie, the Saint episodes are (almost) all available in high resolution quality on the Shout! Factory dvd website.
Same with Danger Man and the Prisoner. ( no Avengers however).

According to wikipedia, Shout! Factory has the current dvd rights to both series.
Does their website maybe not work outside North America?

I bought the boxset of the Persuaders!
I only have one episode left, and I have been loving it to bits. It's so comfy, and Sir Rog is on peak form here. It is a shame it only lasted one season, however I am glad he went on to do Bond of course

thanks for trying the link No24. That''s a shame it doesn't work everywhere.

I just started watching season 3 of The Saint thanks to the Shout! factory site.
I'm increasingly convinced our Roger was better as Simon Templar than as James Bond, certainly way more brutal in his fight scenes.

Tonight watching The Saint Season 3 episode 2 The Revolution Racket.
After Roger has successfully scuppered the villains and made off with
a considerable sum of cash. He tells the local Police Chief that after his
expenses, He'd be donating it all to UNICEF . An odd coincidence as years
later he'd become an ambassador for that very organisation.

For those who subscribe to BritBox, there is a whole host of series just added to stream, including, The Prisoner, UFO, Space 1999, Randall & Hopkirk Deceased and Sapphire and Steele. Just brilliant!

Watched the first episode of UFO, wow, how gorgeous was Gabrielle Drake? The Bond producers missed a trick by not casting her!

Mrs CHB and Son of CHB are really enjoying Randall and Hopkirk :)

One of the things I love about
Old Sci-Fi shows. Is how they
Thought we'd be living in the
    1980s and 90s :)

I started watching 'The Last Narc' on Amazon Prime last night but had to give up. There are huge amounts of it in Spanish but there are no subtitles!! I have no idea what is going on. No subtitles in the show and non on the TV.

I had a similar thing with James May in Japan (also Amazon prime) where they were interviewing Japanese people but no subtitles. I sat watching some guy explaining why he had had to move back to Fukishima but couldn't understand a word. At the time I just thought it was really insulting that the guy was talking about something so serious but the majority of people would have no idea what he was saying.

Is this some sort of arty director/producer thing or something that's not right with UK Prime?

N.B ... I've since looked and found a version on line of The Last Narc that has subtitles-what is going on?? X-( X-(

N.N.B ... think it may be my TV. I can get the subtitles if I look on another device.

My wife has only recently discovered LUCIFER she's really enjoying it...... Although I
hope this doesn't lead to any Devil worship or Satanism. As I don't look good Naked
and meeting at Midnight is way past my bedtime, and the only kind of chicken I want

I finally watched Season 1 of Doom Patrol.
The story of a group of misfit freaks who reluctantly band together as a team of superheroes, to battle menaces even weirder than they are.

So much better than boring old ordinary DC Comics shows like Arrow and the Flash.
Like the X-Men on mescaline, or What If... Thomas Pynchon wrote a superhero story...
With a dose of the Addams Family and two doses of David Lynch...
Non-linear, hallucinatory, fourth-wall demolishing, very funny, a bit disturbing and often very moving.

Diane Guerrero puts in an exceptionally good performance as Crazy Jane, a superhero with 64 personalities each with its own superpower. Episode 9: Jane Patrol, in which RobotMan enters Jane's subconscious and meets all the personalities "in the flesh", is the highlight of the season, one of the strangest hours of teevee ever.

But what about Timothy Dalton, you ask?
Dalton plays the Chief, wheelchair bound leader of the Doom Patrol. A scientific genius who has brought the misfits together, and taught them to control their unwanted superpowers. But we only see Dalton sparingly, giving the other characters the chance to define themselves. Dalton is mostly in Episodes 1, 5, 10, and 15, appearing only briefly in flashbacks in the other episodes.
I have always thought of Dalton as looking, and talking, almost exactly like Patrick Stewart except with hair. So it is appropriate he plays the Chief, as the character is a variation on Professor X.
(note that the Doom Patrol comic began before the X-Men (June 1963 vs September 1963), so Marvel's Professor X was in fact a copy of DC's the Chief).
And the fact he has more hair than Patrick Stewart is important to the plot. Make sure you watch Episode 10: Hair Patrol if you really want to get hip to the Hirsute Scene.

Dalton over-acts just like we want him to do, but does he weep?
Yes he does, Dalton weeps plenty in Episode 10 and he weeps again for the grand finale in Episode 15, so all Dalton-fans shall be satisfied.

Episode 20 series 1 of Mission Impossible and we finally get a ......
" This tape will self-destruct in ten seconds " ... I know the time was
reduced so they could pack more action in to 50 minutes ;)

Also re-watching "Year of the Rabbit ", it's even funnier second time
    round. :D

A double feature, both starring John Candy as Yosh Shmenge playing clarinet.

First a short clip to warm up the audience:
    1. John Candy on Sesame Street 1985

    ...and now, our feature presentation:
    2. The Last Polka, costarring Eugene Levy as brother Stan Shmenge.
An hour long documentary that tells the history of the Shmenge Brothers' act, starting from their childhood days in vaudeville, framed by footage from their retirement concert complete with special guests.
    Good musical arrangements!
Also stars Rick Moranis, Catherine O'Hara, Robin Duke and sister Mary Margaret O'Hara, narrated by Dave Thomas.
This was broadcast March 1985, a year after SCTV finally went off the air for good. Of all the SCTV gang involved in this unofficial reunion, Levy was the only one still involved in the shows final season.

Check out the epic tuba solo that begins at exactly 31:00 minutes!
Then keep your eyes peeled for the kid at the record store at 35:35.

I'm a fan of Matt Berry, I think he's a great talent, I love his delivery of the lines.
He always finds the odd word to emphasise I have read that there is to be
    a second series of Year of the Rabbit. -{

Angela Barnes' cold war stories starts with an Homage to John le Carre

I’ve been watching The Avengers as well :)

I find BritBox the best streaming site by far, I’m watching a whole host of series and movies. It’s especially good for an ex-pat like myself as they will stream the new Spitting Image series :)

In fact I'm thinking of cancelling
Netflix as I now watch so little on it.

Looking forward to the ITV drama later tonight about the notorious serial killer Dennis Nilsen. David Tennant plays the lead character.

Not sure it's been mentioned on here before, but genuinely recommend the Mortimer & Whitehouse Gone Fishing series on a sunday evening. I have zero interest whatsoever in fishing, however the rapport & daft stuff between these two makes for a very enjoyable (and easy) watch. There's some beautiful scenery to enjoy too.
