YKMN appears to work excellently in the score- I love Aston Montenegro (seems to be an 'Into Baku'-type piece) and Diner Jackets is great fun with it's nearly-but-not-quite-Bond theme!

It's quite Moonraker at a few points- notably the love themes (althpugh Solange sounds exactly the same as the Jinx motif to me at the moment; although played in a lusher, Moonraker-type way), plus there's the nice YOLT bass in Dinner Jackets. It's Bond and it's definitely Arnold (I think he's found a slightly new direction for himself but hardly a new Bond sound; although it does sound more emotional than any previous Bond score- even YKMN manages to sound slightly sad).
Dirty Martini sounds appropriately scary too! :D

Yeah- I think, as the Sun review says, that's definitely going to be a 'punch the air' moment!

Let's hope they do the final mix better than last time and you can actually HEAR the score.

Was it that bad? Now you say it- the Hovercraft chase was very underused; I remember wanting them to turn the film up in the cinema!
GoldenEye was pretty bad for music mix too- like the scene in the Statue Park.

Nice clips, although its difficult to judge with 30 second samples, making it easy to judge a piece as lacking thematically, despite not being able to hear any development.

If it's possible for me to be more excited about the upcoming film, this has done it :) The musical cues from YKMN are tantalizing, particularly in "African Rundown" and "Aston Montenegro." And the "Bond...James Bond" will be HUGE when audiences hear it in the cinemas...

Curious that YKMN isn't on the playlist...surely that will change...

It gets better when it uses the YKNM chorus as recurring theme. Overall good. The best, the retro feel they are aiming for. Yes, the period is 2006, but with subtleties they will give a 60s Bond movie feel (that James Bond Theme is the best I´ve heard in many many years). This attention to detail will pay off.

Sounds very promising. I was sort of pensive over the score, though it does sound as if the action and "cool" scenes can be covered after all without the use of the theme.
The You Know My Name tune seems to be being used to terrific effect - even if the lyrical version is somewhat rubbish (the more recent orchestral version is only marginally better). I'm The Money sounds like it could be wonderful, set to Vesper joining the train as it passes through some wonderful scenery... I have to confess I still hear generic Arnold briefly at points. I know that sounds obvious, but Barry managed so many scores sounding unrelated and fresh; Arnold doesn't appear as adept at that, so it seems to appear a tiny wee bit regurgitated at points.

In saying that, all appears to be going in the right direction, all things considered, and it's still unmistakably a Bond score. And that's the main thing.

It's hard for me to tell anything from snippets of music and film if the film will have the impact EON tends to be shooting for. I'm becoming a bit uneasy with the idea that is implied here: mainly that we will be sitting through over two hours of movie and 'not supposed to feel' that this man is supposed to be James Bond until the very end. The absence of the Bond theme was a big letdown for me in GE. I hope it doesn't play the same here.

I think there will be no shortage of Bond-derivative musical cues (which are pervasive in YKMN itself, IMRO) in the score---and I really do think that the payoff at the end will be worth the wait.

The thing I like about Barry was that he was able to score an action sequence without needing a 'drum machine.' Arnold's TWINE score really bothered me with the incessant beat-mix score. I hope he doesn't get too carried away for CR.

Actually, this score sounds a lot like Arnold's others, especially "Tomorrow Never Dies" to me. I think if I just heard the music without knowing the source, I would immediately think "contemporary James Bond."

BTW, I especially like the theme for Vesper. Some of the other music is disposable, but this one isn't bad.

Also, I was trying to put my finger on where I recognise the 'melody' of 'African Rundown' from - it seems very similar to the counter melody of the guitar over the first bars of 'You Know My Name" - intentional?

After looking through the songs I found one called 'the bitch is dead' could this mean that Vesper does die ( Acording to some post on here she is to live. Dont know if that has been proven wrong. Forgive me if it has) :v

Never mind the wah-wahs - the bongos are back! :D

Some lovely themes there, though not enough action cues for my taste; I guess that's what happens when all you have is 30 second clips. "Vesper", in particular, sounds beautiful. And as for the Bond theme at the end... oh yes.

Errr, did you see the title of the track just before "The Bitch Is Dead?"

Anyway, from what I heard this sounds very good. In fact, it's downright Barryesque and brings to mind OHMSS, which I understand was sort of the "model" for this score. Also, I love how the James Bond Theme sounds in "The Name Is Bond"--very raw and tropical and similar to its original appearance in Dr. No. Coincidence? I think not!

David Arnold's music tends to grow on me. I didn't much like any of his previous Bond scores on first listening but now I like them all.

Listening to those clips there was nothing that grabbed my attention or inspired me in any way. A few of them sounded like "generic Arnold", as M5 stated. Solange sounded "Barryesque". Time will tell if this Arnold score grows on me like his previous one's.

I do agree (as jetset stated) there does seem to be a lack of action cues. Will the full score lack some energy?

Bad news for ya. That's technically all the action cues and you "might" expect some cuts when comparing the soundtrack to the movie (the movie having the less music).

On the subject of action cues, surely 'Miami International' will be one of the most action-packed tracks, despite the subdued sample clip - it is, after all, the biggest action scene ?:)

Sounds FANTASTIC! The score has a very classical feel to it, which is exactly what I wanted. I love the new rendition of the Bond theme! Very retro.

I could quite manage to put what I felt into words. You did.Thanks.
Arnold is a good composer and a Barry fan. Barry was pure genius.

Having listened to the tracks I think it sounds a lot like the TWINE soundtrack. There are several instrument sounds and cues that sound straight out of TWINE. Glad Arnold has ditched the techno sound, it was time for a more classical change.
The use of YKMN is fantastic, that melody can be both haunting, energetic, melodic, it will really set the score perfectly.

Speaking of "You Know My Name," is it actually on the soundtrack? I don't see it under the samples.

Bizarrely enough, it's not - no.

Though I do have to say I'm very pleased that we seem to be getting a near full score for once, and not a small collection of the "best bits" like the previous soundtracks have been (though I'm not including the re-mastered older ones in that). No taking up loads of space with useless PC content, and no pointless remix of the Bond theme by some DJ "just because". That's surely a good thing.

How strange . . . the latest version I've heard is pretty good. Any chance this will be one of those "two soundtrack" deals, where the instrumentals are on one track and the vocalized songs are on the other?

    This score is excellent.
I don´t hear any TWINE in it, the opposite actually, i think it´s a return to old-style Roger Moore Bond scores.

Especially the soothing strings melodies remind me a lot of my favourite BOND SOUNDTRACK and that is OCTOPUSSY soundtrack, that was best Bond score ever.

Alhough some songs are too quiet, almost like they are only long pad notes, definitely meant to be ambient pieces, but hard to judge them when I don´t hear anything, otherwise great
