Some new clips (which seem a bit better than the Sony ones) and full descriptions of each track. The soundtrack's over 75 min long, which is good.

    Though I can't listen to it at work, thanks to Quicktime, there's a couple of interesting statements in the descriptions...

    Monty Norman's classic "James Bond Theme" is scarce, only showing up a couple of times over the course of the 75-minute album - in other words, more than once. Mainly:

    Blunt Instrument (2:22)...suddenly swirling up into a dramatic rendition of the James Bond bass theme - and,

    Trip Aces (2:06)...and then the ascending James Bond bass theme is slowly played

    So it might not be heard in full until the end, but there are elements, obviously strong elements, of it in the mix.

    Yes, listening to the clips of Miami Airport and Dinner Jackets (can't listen to the whole thing here just like you) there are phrases from the Bond theme (quite a bit of the wah-wah Waah Waaaah trumpet fanfare)- not played as strongly as usual and perhaps very slightly altered, but you'd have no doubt it is a Bond film you're listening to.

    Looks like those complaining about the lack of the Bond theme being in the movie will be assuaged after all.

    I find it interesting that the first song in which the Bond-theme carries the melody is the track, "Bond Wins It All." Very fitting: Bond is back to being the Bond we've come accustomed to who always comes out on top, and the Bond theme comes around full-circle. (Or at least the intro to it, which has more creative significance)

    This is starting to sound like the best Bond soundtrack in ages. You Know My Name sounds terrific in classical arrangement.

    The full Bond theme sounds bloody awesome. That might be the best rendition ever.

    Now that I've had a chance to properly listen, I'm encouraged. Sounds like it could be Arnold's best score by far (thanks to the near complete ommission of electronic effects). There still is some hints of generic Arnold that I hear and think "not completely original now, is it?" but thanks to the expanded clips, it seems that the instances are less than I initially thought.

    I am heartened by the inclusion of the Bond bass line in several tracks - it's all that's needed here and there. Dinner Jackets sounds like an especially fun track, and I can just picture the scene to it as well, and when the real bass line plays :007)

    Am I the only one who finds Arnold's blatant re-use of a theme from 'Last of the Dogmen' in 'Vesper' quite unacceptable?! :D

    Most of those clips are far better than the ones on the Sony site. In fact whoever chose the clips for the Sony site deserves to be out of a job by now.

    Well, i must say...I really don't like the bits of the soundtrack I've heard so far. The new Bond theme is very cool, but I can't say that I like any of the rest. To much classicality in many of the tunes. Though I like some of the quicker in tempo tunes. Oh well, I will probably end up with this soundtrack anyways. :D

    Actually, the first cue to feature the vamp will be 'Blunt Instrument' which will contain the first JB/YMKN transition that will be the key to the whole score. This is the "OHMSS thing" that got misinterpreted over the news somehow.

    The one major positive thing I attribute to the score is that Arnold didn't give up himself and there are subtle hints to his own career which I would have hated to see go. 'The End Of An Aston Martin' has a particularly nice rendition of the "pipeline motive", which is now officially Arnold's trademark that got used in all his four movies.

    I suppose it is, although I saw that more as being a bit of a tribute to 'Charge of the Batmobile'!

    The is the thing Arnold saved from his other scores - how happy I was when I heard this because I counted on its appearance. On the soundtrack, it will start at 25 seconds and will run about for at least half a minute. This cue sadly is really a musical spoiler apart from the title as well - don't listen to this track before seeing the movie. ;)

    I think it's brilliant. Very Williams-esque, while still being completely Arnold.

    Most of the good movies this year have either had mediocre original music, good licensed music, or both. CR may be up for an Oscar here.

    Oh no. The Oscars are reserved for mediocre scores that do not run more than 20 minutes (preferably only on one guitar) and have to be the underscore of a movie that the Academy will not honor with the best picture award, yet it has to give it "something".

    You might need a Quicktime plug-in which can be downloaded from Apple's site. I'm not too fond of this format either, but it's still a small price to listen.

    Em, thanks for posting, you and I don't agree often, but you do post a lot of interesting things to the site and I appreciate it.

    Having listened to all the tracks I must say I like it very much. I especially liked "Unauthorised Access", had a lot of atmosphere. Still hate the theme song, but I enjoyed the soundtrack. I always thought Arnold was a worthy successor to Barry.

    By the way Quicktime blows.

    I just missed those soundtrack where the main song went all along the movie, like when John Barry was there (see DAD), but here you can hear "You Know my Name" a lot. The last track probably mean something important to the fans (i cant wait to see it in the theatre.

    Amazing soundtrack, i always said Arnold would impress some, and he just did. not so electrical, it sound pretty much like the older soundtracks

    Funny how "African Rundown" resembles a lot to the Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater soundtrack. (the jungle type.

    I want this CD now..... lucky brits and yankies (no offence)

    Well even if the Academy did reward genuinely good scores, there's no way David Arnold will be getting an Oscar, he's just not that good a composer as evidenced by the clips from the action cues (apart from African Rundown which sounds very exciting).
