The top of the range Audis would do quite well, I think. They're great cars, very stylish and very fast, not too common (BMW; ugh) and don't stand out too much.
All kidding aside, I had no problems with him driving a Mondeo. You think MI6 is going to front him an expensive ride at this stage? I don't think so. After all, he's a newly-appointed double-0, on a forced leave of absence in the Bahamas, and not highly regarded by his boss, so he's driving a Ford sedan off the Hertz lot. It made perfect sense to me.
The DBS made sense in Montenegro. His cover was a very successful professional gambler, though he was arrogant enough that he didn't really hide who he really was.
Given who he was pretending to be at the casino, driving a Mondeo would have been really OTT.
the porche 912 is really old. I saw one owner driven on the street. It look really beat up.
Bond must drive latest model car.
Unless he was driving a car which was intentionally an old model car - such as the car he had in Cuba, or the DB5.
I think I'd like to see a scene where he has an E type jag in the English countryside. Or a Shelby Cobra while on a mission in America. Both very nice sports cars which I think would be more noticable than a Volvo or a Lexus.
