spy spoofs, why?

It seems to me spy spoofs almost outnumber spy thrillers in books and movies. Austin Powers, Get Smart, the first Casino Royale movie, the many Bond parody books. Why do you suppose that is?

Could Bond be to "blame," in that this was such a big phenomenon in the 60s, the movies had their one-liners, and Fleming himself gave the female characters their double-entrendre names?

There's nothing wrong with parodies, of course, but I wonder why the spy genre seems to be spoofed more often than mysteries, westerns, or other fiction genres. -{
