CR Madagascar shoes with pictures

StefanStefan VirginiaPosts: 568MI6 Agent
Greetings Ladies and Gents,

New to this wonderful forum. I am not sure if this has already been covered but I have just cracked the riddle of the shoes worn by Bond during the chase in Madagascar. The good news is that I found them however the bad news is that they seem to be discountinued on the offical website. I doubled checked the image with a good shot of the shoes in the book Bond On Set by Greg Williams and we have a winner.

Converse Jack Purcell OTR
Color Chocolate and Paprika
Mid ankle boot

Hope this helps,
Stefan

I do hope this link works, otherwise go to...
    1.www.zappos.com
    2.Search for Jack Purcell OTR

This website has the best angles of the shoe, especially the orange logo on the sole of the shoe which is clearly seen when Bond attempts to get up to the crane during the chase.

    Hope this helps,
    Stefan

Certainly looks like an exact match to me - very well done!

Noticed though that none of the stills I have show the orange flash on the toe or heel; unless anyone has a different image, I suppose it's possible that the shoes were just dirty... but I wonder if these details were physically blacked-in or 'dirtied' to stop them detracting?

Loads of the Casino Royale (Choc & Paprika) version available on eBay.co.uk and .com for a snip too!

For those in the USA, just ordered a pair from sales@americanathletics.com

Also ordered a UK pair for display...just in case.

I ordered a pair from sales@americanathletics.com should have them in three or four days!

I noticed a slight discrepancy, the ones on Zappos have 8 eyelets (as do the ones in the Bond on the Set book) and the ones I seen on eBay and americanathletics.com only have seven???

Good find. Daniel Craig as Bond also wears the regular Jack Purcells while recovering and fooling around with Vesper. Vesper and Bond fall down and knock over some equipment while in the heat of passion. Can't remember if they are white or blue, but I've had a couple of pairs of each color for years. James Dean also favored Jack Purcells.

    sruzgar,

I've just ordered a pair, but while I was searching to find the correct size for me I read somewhere that, depending on the size of the shoe, Converse add eyelets.

    Blue

As far as I remember he only wore the canvas Jack Purcells at Lake Como while recovering. And I seem to remember them as being the white ones.

Can anyone help me determine what size to get? Because, as you well know, sizes vary by brand. I wear a 9.5 for Prada and Charles Tyrwhitt, 10.5 for Adidas. Any idea what size I should get these in?

    From the American Athletics websight:

    JACK PURCELL'S

For men's sizes, please select 1/2 size up from your normal size (if you wear Men's size 9, please choose Men's size 9.5). Women's sizes should be true to size.

Ok, well, I ordered from americanathletics.com...had to pay through InternationalCheckout.com (as I'm in Canada)

Never had to do that before, but can't find any other source for these that will ship up here, so we'll see how that goes!

To me it is clear...you have to buy one to display and one to wear.

Quick, because they are selling out everywhere!

Look what arrived yesterday...each from different parts of the world, one from the USA and one from the UK. One to display and one to wear...Only difference between the two are some markings inside the shoe which I posted pics of. BEAUTIFUL shoes and although today will be the first day I wear them they seem supple and comfy. Now to find a tall crane...

I like. May have to buy a pair now.
  • The Bond ExperienceThe Bond Experience Newtown, PAPosts: 5,490Quartermasters
Well, I wore them all day today....very comfortable (and I am not typically a sneaker guy)....I was surprised how warm they kept my feet even when chasing my 11 year old through the snow. A two hor car ride with the family kept me shifting my feet a bit so they are not driving shoes but once on your feet running or walking your feet will be happy.

Maybe you can help me, I am looking at getting a pair but cant figure out what ones they are, are they the first link or the second?
