I thought I would post this link for those members with big bucks to spend on collectables:

http://www.antiquorum.com/omegamania/home2.html

Click on the link, then click on "Catalog in English", then in the upper left hand corner in the "skip to lot #" box type 300 and click go.

This is the actual watch worn by DC during filming.

I tried to post a direct link but it would not work.:#

Great, now if the price shoots up to silly heights, I will blame you two ;)

Pity it has all that orange stuff on it. It'd be fantastic to own a bond watch that really is a bond watch...but I think i'd actually prefer to own an omega that doesnt have that stuff on it =P

I suppose you could get it refurbished, but then that seems like a bad thing to do to that watch.

Daniel certainly didn't look after that one did he. :)

I'd say he wore a few of them throughout various scenes. But what is that 'patina'? Is that rust?
  • SolarisSolaris Blackpool, UKPosts: 308MI6 Agent
I think its Mud, not rust.

If its in the same condition as it was at the end of fiming it is most likely going to be mud. Bahamas covering as madagascar Mud.

Sand from the building site scene.

    That was... Definite

was bond on the ground, to get sand in his watch during the building site section of the chase?
  • Asp9mmAsp9mm Over the Hills and Far Away.Posts: 7,485MI6 Agent
Yes, he landed bodily in a pile of sand when jumping from a great height, rolling too. The sand was applied permanently for continuity in the following scenes and is not likely to come off easily. Imagine a loctite and sand cocktail and you will understand.

Looks like it could be sand or perhaps clay, would rust leave marks on the rubber strap? Became the proud owner:) of a Planet Ocean last Friday, hope mine weather's a little better.
  • HigginsHiggins GermanyPosts: 16,618MI6 Agent
It's definetly no rust, not on the body, not on the rubber bracelet.

Stainless steel does not rust, and rubber doesn't either.

....and please, I get pain in my stomach, if someone even considers to remove the dirt on the watch.

If I have a screen-seen wardrobe from a movie, I don't wash and iron it, or am I wrong?

That's fascinating about the glue-on sand, and I'd bet you're right! I never thought about it like that, but if something gets dirty in a scene you need the dirt to stay on all day/week/whatever for continuity.

It is stuck on hard, you would have to use a chisel and hammer to get it off. I'd say that they applied epoxy then dropped sand on it, when it was set they just brushed the excess sand off.

As I cannot afford the real prop, I am thinking of taking my mint PO and upgrade it with the sand/epoxy thing for an authentic replica look :))

My Dad received the auction catalog from his local Omega Dealer. Bond fans will be interested in a few more auction lots:

Lot # 296 LE CR Planet Ocean Serial #1
Lot # 297 LE CR Seamaster Pro. Serial #1
Lot # 298 Seamaster Pro. worn by Brosnan in TND
Lot # 299 Seamaster Pro. worn by Craig in CR

If I only had the money for Lots 299 and 300!

I just have received message from Antiquorum on the "dirt issue".

The german representative had the watch in hands (after my request) and told me, that it is "only" real dirt, so, no clued-on sand for this one.
They probably prepared another one in the way, ASP9mm described it for continuity reasons.

By the way, the auction catalogue is absolutely amazing, a great shot of the CR watch on page 2.

    Hey Markus,

It seems that there are a few of us going for this watch. Unfortunately a huge collector friend of mine has now shown an interest and he really does have more money than God. With three Astons under his belt, ther is no competition X-(

    Hello ASP9mm,

will you also be bidding on the watch? Maybe, we do 50-50, you get the bracelet, I get the rest. Just kiddin' :))

By the way, if your friend has so much money, why did he not go for the modified Subby on Christie's some years ago?

But 3 Astons don't impress me much, I can cope with that! I don't have any idea, how many DB5 Corgi versions I am hording in my collection.
