Does it make sense?

After watching Casino Royale for the third time, I was wondering how will the next Bond film be like? If Casino Royale shows the orgins of Bond, will they make another film to follow suit? (ex: a remake of "From Russia with Love") or will it be set in more present times? I think it would be interesting to see how the Craig's character can change between a large time laspse

I'm moving this to the Bond 22 forum. That said, it's been established that the 22nd film will be a direct sequel to CR; and I'm a little unsure what you mean by setting it "in more present times." After all, CR was set in the here and now, so it's only logical that B22 will be as well!

This is a bit of the conundrum which I'm looking forward to seeing how it is resolved. A direct sequel to CR that continues the supposed 'faithful' interpretation of Bond would mean adapting the original 'Live and Let Die'. But this has already been done (in two films, to a degree). How the filmmakers can continue a story arc from CR into a story that Fleming never wrote, and still claim that CR is a faithful adaptation of the character is a bit puzzling.

To be honest, I think that the Live and Let Die novel is a sequel to CR only in that Bond again tangles with SMERSH--an agency upon which he swore vengeance in CR. I don't think the filmmakers need to be faithful to any particular story or Fleming concept--the field is wide open.

I think the key will be in maintaining the overall style and tone of the piece. If, as current rumours suggest, #22 will be an amalgam of "Hildebrant," "Risico," "Property" and "007 in New York"---plus the inevitable 'original material'---there should be no shortage of faithfulness to Fleming's character.

That said, I'm still hoping for a few bits of LALD to turn up at some point: the broken pinky finger, the violence in the parking garage, etc.; if 007 will truly be 'in New York,' perhaps there's a (very) slight chance. I hope so.

He's going after Vesper's boyfriend and closing in on the organization behind Mr. White.

Sounds entirely new to me. I wish they would do a true to novel "Live and Let Die" but it wont happen. People who say that aspects of it have been done in Bond films already miss the boat...the drama that Fleming creates in those scenes is waaaaaay better than anything scene in FYEO or TLD.

I do hope that Bond is NOT entirely polished as an agent yet. I like the Bond that lost his cool at the Casino and almost sliced LeChifre's throat then and there, the Bond that called Vesper a bloody idiot, the Bond that gulped whiskey to calm himself after the stairway killing. He was more fun to watch than the tie straightening, witty death joke attempt Bond any day of the week.

I agree with smoke on this. A vulnerable Bond is a bit more fun than the self parodying, wise cracking Bond of old.

I think, perhaps, there might still be a few more details to be fleshed out,

which leaves plenty of room for surprises.
