Sounds hopeful- I think it'd be great to see him onboard again: CR definitely had a winning script.

I think Eon would be fools not to get Haggis back on board - and Eon are no fools.

I agree. If P&W can scrape together a bit of Fleming from, say, the rumoured material---and have Haggis mop up behind them---I like their chances for repeat success.

I eagerly await Dan Same's petition drive to prevent Haggis from getting anywhere near the next script :D

Although I do not place CR's script on as high of a divine pedestal as some here, I would not object to Haggis's return for Bond #22. We all know of the repercussions if Purvis and Wade go unchecked. ;)

So far we have definite maybes from Haggis and Campbell--at least that's better than outright nopes. Very hopeful.

I am hopeful that Paul Haggis will return, it would be a good thing to have as many of the same people (as is possible) behind Casino Royale working together again on Bond 22. Especially as Bond 22 is a direct sequel.

I would be very interested to know exactly how much of a re-write Haggis did to Purvis & Wade's script for CR. Original reports suggested that Haggis was going to be spending three weeks on the script. In the end I think it was nearer three months.

Haggis is by no means a brilliant screenwriter, but his clout from winning an Oscar and being a "name" now in Hollywood probably gave him the gravitas to be heard when arguing for a better Bond script than Purvis and Wade have shown themselves capable of.

I thought I saw someone bidding on Divine's pedestal on ebay---it was ostentations, certainly...but hardly fitting for a Bond script :(|)

In all seriousness, this question is all about relativism. Haggis has his share of detractors---as does anyone who's ever written for the screen---but CR was the best Bond script in a long time, IMO.

Was it P&W? Was it Haggis? Was it Haggis mopping up after P&W...or just adding a bit of relationship/dialogue fourish? I don't honestly know. What can I say? It worked for me.

By all means get Haggis back for a rewrite. Anything that keeps him busy and prevents him directing another film as bad as 'Crash' is fine by me. I also think they should have somebody who can write some decent one-liners involved. Shane Black would be perfect given his work on 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.'

Personally I would be happy for Haggis to re-write Bond 22 -after all Purvis and Wades first effort on Casino Royale couldn't have been upto scratch -othewise why call Haggis in the first place? Haggis is proven and excellent -if anything I would have liked him writing from the start and for P & W not to have anything to do with Bond 22. But hey either way the bar has risen and Bond 22 should be on a par with CR at the very least.
