CANNES, France: James Bond says his rippling muscles have gone a little flabby.
Bond star Daniel Craig told reporters at the Cannes Film Festival that he had let himself go a little since putting himself through a tough fitness regimen for "Casino Royale."
"I had some down time," Craig said Monday. "I got to enjoy myself a bit. I'm getting back into shape now, I'm kind of building myself up again."
Craig, 39, said the script had not been finalized for the next Bond film, which does not yet have a title.
The last 007 film was "very successful," Craig said. "We have to make the next one, I think, better than the last one to keep people happy."
Craig was in Cannes for a preview of "The Golden Compass," a fantasy adventure that also stars Nicole Kidman. It will hit screens worldwide in December.

The Boycott continues!
The casino Royal Boycott continues into the DVD release, the pay per view release and Video Rentals. Tens of thousands of movie goers walked out of movie theaters in protest. Millions more made a strong statement by not going to the movie at all.
The Boycott had an undeniable effect, the American Box Office take is $20 million under possible expectations. Academy Award winning Happy Feet took home an Oscar as well as
$197,865,227 to nest with. Casino Royale on the other hand secured $167,007,184 domestically. While Die Another Day in comparison brought home $183,500,000 (Inflated Grosses for 2006).
The studio and producers know there are unhappy funs and also know millions of dollars were missed out on because of their mistaken choice of Daniel Craig.
The Boycott will continue as long as Daniel Craig is employed as 007.
Where to begin, where to begin. . .Tens of thousands of people walked out? The boycott is responsible for CR making only $167 mil in the U.S. (nevermind the fact it was still in the top 10 at the American B.O., and forget about the $400 mil-plus it took around the world)? And they're still insisting that the success of a singing, dancing children's movie reflects poorly on a Bond film? I'm afraid the game is still on for these wingnuts!

This time last year there were no laughs, but given their tenuous grip on reality and the laughable attempts at spin, I find them a diverting interest. Care in the (Bond) community and all that
As for the thousands walking out ... perhaps millions actually walked out in protest that the film had ended?
My only pet peev about that comment is the parochial North American/"Domestic" view. I'm sorry, but you got to look at the world view my deluded little friends.
Genius. Millions? I assume they are saying that anyone, anywhere, who hasn't seen the film, was doing so in protest at Craig's casting? That's fantastic. Does that mean I have inadvertantly boycotted 99% of films released between the year I was born and today? I feel so guilty. All those great films that suffered because of my cruel acts. All those artists who went hungry. And does this include films released abroad and not in the UK? And what about other media? Have I boycotted the vast majority of music released in that time? When I watch BBC1, does that mean I am boycotting every other tv channel? What if I flick during the adverts in Coronation Street - is that a boycott against the adverts, the tv programme (because I am missing part of its half hour schedule) or is it a boycott of all of ITV? And does visiting AJB mean that I am boycotting the entire internet even as I sit here?
What can I say? I'm clearly a highly principled person. Even though I didn't know it.

I wondered that a few weeks ago... ie, what if the '70's had the Internet - what would people's responses be to Connery returning as Bond for one last film, the nomination of Roger Moore...
I would argue that Brosnan's selection as Bond wouldn't have invited much discussion, however the selections of Lazenby and Dalton would have.
I think Loeff is correct in his thinking, ANY change of Bond actor will elicit knee-jerking of some magnitude from some fans. Dalton had his share, Brosnan too. Goes with the territory.

"All" means all. Those in favour, those against...all. I'd like to think that I'll have a similar stance on Bond Actor #7 as I did when (Formerly) Poor DannyTM was first cast: i.e., give the fellow a chance.

I hope there would have been some naysayers to the Connery return...at least since it eternally enshrined the nasty battle between Sony and MGM over Thunderball rights. As for Moore, he was a man of his age, although there might've very well been a moorenotbond.com site. Of course, every time there is a new Bond there will be naysayers, who obviously know more than the producers of one of the most successful movie franchises ever (note slight degree of sarcasm)!
However, I would venture to say that if the new Bond choice fits your taste you are bound to pay for the movie. Apparently over nearly 50 years the producers have made some small mistakes, but have consistently produced Bond movies and actors who have met people's tastes enough for those people to pay at the box office. Now when it comes to individual tastes, well nobody knows better than themselves who they like and why they like them, of course producers can't match everyone's individual tastes. All I am saying is that the taste of the naysayers is a small minority, and that the producers are skilled enough to choose a Bond who meets the tastes of the masses, and they have not done too bad a job at staying true to the Bond character at the same time(although there have been temporary lapses).
