Why doesn't Le Chiffre buy his game with is 5 million when he losses to Bond instead he tried to torture to get the money instead of trying to beat him again at poker it would be less risky

    I assume it was because he was flat broke and he had no backer. It's been a while since I read the book but that sounds about right.

    Well aside from being tight on cash, the tournament director clearly states that one could no longer buy back in during the final stages of the game.
